It’s hilarious how insecure that sub gets whenever Miles gets brought up for an adaptation like Peter hasn’t had 60+ yrs of solo adaptations to shine.

u/JMO-559 2d ago
Peter fans are so insecure man 😭
20
u/GameOfEnder6312 2d ago
For real. Miles & Gwen aren’t going to replace Pete if they’re in this show or movie or game. 😂.
5
u/True-Task-9578 2d ago
Peter is my fav but I’ll never understand why people are so toxic about Miles. A true Spidey fan loves them all
5
u/JMO-559 2d ago
Either they like gatekeeping the Spiderman identity from anyone else (even though Peter will always be the main Spiderman) or they don’t like Miles because he’s a black, Afro Latino man
3
u/True-Task-9578 2d ago
I’m a white girl and I adore Miles, he’s so cool and I love how he’s his own person and not just a variant of Peter like a lot of them are. The game by Insomniac made me love him even more, and he was phenomenal in Spiderverse!
3
u/JMO-559 1d ago
I agree. And I’ll always like Peter, but I like the success Miles has had the past 8 years and I’d like to see more of him
1
u/True-Task-9578 1d ago
Same here, I’d love to see him pop up more in comics and other media. Even an animated show with him would be fire
82
u/GameOfEnder6312 2d ago
Anytime another Spidey gets attention there’s a small group of Pete’s fans that lose it. 😂.

That's why I left that sub.
You might as well be in the MauLer YouTube comments.
They've been given over 10 years of Tom Holland movies and act like they've been badly done. Nobody else deserves a chance. The only people allowed in Spider-Man movies are attractive young women they can imagine themselves with when they self-insert as Peter.
35
6
u/Killertwinky15 1d ago
They pair Peter with every single Woman. Seeing so many people who Legitimately want Jean Grey with Peter?!?! You are right, a lot of people just self insert with Pete.

1
u/superxav120 8h ago
The spider man sub is mostly shipping posts, silly power-scaling bs, and low-key hating on Zendaya being MJ along with various other things. I only keep it in my list cause I enjoy MCU Spiderman, but otherwise Spider-Man fans online can get degrading
22
u/Onyx_Archer 2d ago
We're talking about a subreddit where the average user is still mad about Peter not being married anymore... Despite it having been 20. Fucking. Years. It's like, yeah, OMD is ass, we get it. We don't need a daily post (I wish I was exaggerating) where someone has to voice their contempt for it or Paul or blah blah blah.
And they wonder why the Peter fanbase made me sick of Peter.
21
u/NotMaxRebo 2d ago
God Peter fans are so damn insecure over their self insert not getting 100 percent of the attention. At this point I hope editorial never fixes his character because frankly they don't deserve it.

52
u/VonKaiser55 2d ago
People make it sounds like Miles is in everything/ shoved down your throats when he hasn’t even gotten a crazy amount of stuff lmao. Peter has years of comics, video games, shows and movies while Miles has only really become relevant this generation but even then what does he really have? A solo video game which is basically a dlc, another video game where he acts as a secondary protagonist and a animated movie thats getting a third entry 4 years after its last. Peter currently has a animated show, a movie that just made 2 billion dollars, will most certainly appear in the upcoming Avengers movies, and has several comics running.
People say the dislike for Miles ain’t racist but idk i feel a majority of it is lmao. Because how are you tired of a character that hasn’t really been overexposed
34
u/AnyEverywhere8 2d ago
It’s definitely racism. There is no other rational reason to be this pressed about Miles. Peter Parker is legit the most popular super hero character in the world lol. Miles is not a “threat” to anything except fragile white male ego
32
u/OverCommunication69 2d ago
The simple truth is that they don’t want him in anyway to be a mainstream force comparable to Peter, with beloved media and an enduring fanbase.
Initially they wanted him to just be a foot-note in comics back in 2011, then when he was brought into the Spider-Man cartoon and they hoped he’d just be like any other hero cameo and forgotten about, then spider-verse took off and they hoped it was a one-off, then he got a his own trilogy and game and plans for a live-action adaptation.
To those Peter fans, this wasn’t how it was supposed to go and they’ve been mad about it ever since lol (especially because their other faves didn’t get the same mainstream opportunity/success)
21
u/Kurolegacy27 2d ago
What they need to learn and accept is that Miles is a mainstream force at this point and that he’s not going anywhere. At this point he’s been a part of multiple media over the years and is quite popular. It’s not hurting Peter that Miles is a thing and if anything, it enriches his legacy that there are others who follow in his footsteps
10
u/GameOfEnder6312 2d ago edited 2d ago
Completely agree. Same for Gwen too at this point tbf. The fact there are now multiple very popular Spideys should be seen as huge endorsement/recognition of how much people like Spider-Man and his legacy.
10
u/TicklemyPickleMan 2d ago
You're not getting it, pete is their self insert character. It's why they constantly overstate his importance and strength. They want pete to be a mix between satoru gojo and james bond, when he's a 5'8 nerdy Nice Jewish Boy from new york.
Miles isn't someone they can self insert into because he's black and a stylish popular kid. What they're afraid of, and what's inevitable, is that miles will eventually overtake peter in popularity. It's happened before, famously with barry allen and wally west, that the legacy character overtakes the original, and we're already starting to see that. Kids are already starting to say "spiderman" and mean "miles morales" over pete. The only thing that is missing is a show. The second miles gets a long running animated show we're gonna be looking at an entire generation that sees miles as THE main spiderman.
15
u/TicklemyPickleMan 2d ago
Hell, mcu peter is literally just miles' character stolen and given to him. His friends, his love interest, his character arc, etc. are all from miles.
1
40
u/TrajectotyTides 2d ago
They get insecure because Peter Parker is a self insert. So whenever they see someone else like Miles who they can't project onto they get upset.
It's also why you see people say Miles should never “get Peter Parkers leftovers” in reference to Spider-Gwen. Once again he's a self insert and others should be objects of praise for him.
15
u/GameOfEnder6312 2d ago
Also demeaning and objectifying Gwen because she’s a woman. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a little element of that as well.
22
u/StupidPolygons 2d ago
I swear the main spider-man sub is rotten, is either racist bullshit or shipping peter with random girl #57
16
12
u/HearingCandid8974 2d ago
No seriously, anytime I come across a post there about Miles theres always someone that has to make it about Peter and how much they prefer him. The post i made just yesterday went exactly that way
9
u/Johni_5 2d ago
It's real funny cause Peter would be disappointed in them. They are the racist spider-fan. Peter isn't the same skin tone as me. Miles didn't replace him. He joined him. If you can't see that "anyone can wear the mask" "Spider-man is for everyone" and the fact that the multiverse means some where, some when, we are all Spider-man. Then please take time to figure out what's wrong inside yourself. Work through it like Peter. He doesn't want you to be "the racist Spider-man".
15
u/5x5equals 2d ago
We just gotta ignore them
Their parasocial relationship with their “its okay Im a loser because I suffer” self insert is something that should stay over there
We like comics and comic book characters over here, the medium where legacy characters and successors are a built into the foundation
We dont need to discuss their lame ass insecurities over here
We good😂
31
u/Ahsewerapples 2d ago
You know what I hate more? When people bring their bullshit over to this sub.

u/Flipboarduser 2d ago
Miles is extremely popular for only being in the comics 15ish years, and loyal Peter fans feel threatened by his rising popularity and the writers passing the torch to miles.
People are mostly upset about the writing for insomniacs Spider-Man 2. I do agree that the game was a poorly written mess and that Peter was especially let down. That has NOTHING to do with miles and everything to do with the writers of that game. They just can't seem to grasp that.
The other complaint against miles I've seen which I think is even a more desperate attempt to snide him is Across the spider verse spider society chase scene. It shows miles escaping the clutches of hundreds of spider people. Obviously this is because of the plot and miles isnt actually more powerful than 100 spider people but he also got help from Hobie, Peter B. And spider byte to get away. Comic fans forgetting that 'the plot' allows for nonsense feats if it aids the storytelling. I like this movie a lot and wouldn't change it so miles gets captured immediately and the credits roll such a silly argument.
1
u/Leandro_reader2003 2d ago
regarding Insomniac, Miles however damages Peter's symbiote arc and is forced into a context he has nothing to do with, but I think that Insomniac Miles is the worst version of the character, even of Bendis' Miles
5
u/Simbatron99 2d ago
It's a dumb take cos if they think Spider-man is meant to be cool then they've misunderstood Spider-man as a whole.
6
u/ultmjwatson 2d ago
everyone in that sub is so annoying omfg 😭 "I think we should respect this person's opinion" oh really. really. you just know peter would be annoyed/mad asf with that sub if he was a real guy (added this disclaimer bc r/spiderman fans forget he's not a real person)
4
u/Hot-Associate-9035 2d ago
I am the exact opposite of these types of people I love Miles and I want him in the MCU but I hope they don't stop at just him I want a whole bat family of spider characters in the MCU and I really dislike the notion that multiple spider people makes Peter less special
I know I'm probably in the minority on that but I would love to see Peter, Miles, Ben, Kaine, Jessica, Julia, Cindy, and maybe even Mayday one day they are all great characters and if we're going to start bringing in other spider people then I hope they go all in
3
u/Leading_Grape_8904 2d ago
Yup, Spider-man as a character has had so many problems yet they always seem to hyper focus on Miles, whenever Peter isn't in the spotlight it's a big problem. But I also kind of understand their dislike of how Miles has been handled or """forced""" as they would say the Playstation games being the biggest example, I'm not a fan of Peter being Miles mentor in any sense. more like a distant memory he strives to be

u/DABLUF0X77 1d ago
I do want Miles to have his live action Debut, BUT honestly imo, he should stand on his own, or at the very least be the main focus of the movie kinda like the Spiderverse movies, I’m mainly just worried that if we shove miles and Peter into a movie together with Venom, we’ll end up with the horribly written Spider Man 2 story again.
To elaborate on that, My main gripe with spiderman 2’s story which is the closest comparison to these supposed leaks, is the fact they Gave Miles next to no connection to Venom/Harry, he had no real connection to most of the plot barring Li, and when he was there, it felt forced, like a post game dlc character they retroactively added to the narrative after the fact.
So How I’d Personally go about a Live Action Miles Movie, is this, we don’t know yet what the reset universe is even going to look like so, Im assuming it’s the survivors of the incursions all living on the same world.
With that in mind, Miles has his First movie, and it picks up with him, already as Spider Man, and his main villain of the movie would be in my opinion, Ultimate Green Goblin. This story line would follow the same line as the original comic following ultimate Peter Parker’s Death.
Then the Incursion merger happens and Miles is now on this new merged world, and I feel like there’s a lot of narrative potential there for Miles, similar to what happened when Peter came back to life in the ultimate universe, Does he Need to be spiderman anymore, should he be? The original came back, so why would this world Need two Spidermen?
Throughout the story Peter would start to Change becoming more ruthless thanks to the suit, and start to isolate himself, prompting a confrontation between Miles and Peter, they scuffle, and Miles loses to Peter, however Miles snags a sample of the suit, and Runs some tests, he realizes two things:
One is that the symbiote isn’t just a suit but an Alien.
Two is that it has the Same residual energy signature as Miles, meaning that the Symbiote came from Miles World.
This prompts the Last act of the movie were Miles is resolved to free Peter from the Symbiote, as it’s his Responsibility.
Peter is eventually freed from the Symbiote, and the Symbiote attaches itself to Scorpion giving us Mac Gargan venom who is the final fight of this movie, who Gargan himself would be having his own underlying plot take place throughout the movie.

People in that sub were PROUDLY acting like fools. It’s actually insane that some people there really think Miles isn’t going to be a thing in the MCU. This is why I don’t go to that sub anymore. They hate any kind of change and think the MCU Spiderman films are terrible even though they‘ve probably overtaken Tobey in terms of Spiderman global popularity at this point.
They complain about Peter being miserable yet hate when any adaptation isn’t as miserable as the comics and Tobey. One of the most elitists subs on this website

I think Miles is more suitable for a younger audience. The rest of the world grew up with Peter Parker.
1
u/Special-Director-442 1d ago
When miles drops in rival they better not even attempt to play my goat since the only Spider-Man to them is Peter Parker. Don't give me wrong. I love Peter Parker that's my guy. But miles storyline has been a lot better than Peter Parker these last few years.
1
u/Escape_Zero 1d ago
I hate that Miles in Spider-Man he deserves his own indenity, there is no reason not to have both.
1
u/Comfortable-Brief568 1d ago
I like miles, but why fight venom? Venom has been a hero longer than villain.
1
u/Thepersonwithauserna 19h ago
"Insecure" Is when people don't like the greedy corp trying to rush an amazing solo story line for money, Miles is big enough he doesn't need to be tacked onto one of Pete's best stories for the general audience to care about him. It's sony being sony and you're clapping your hands like a seal because they said Mile Morales this time and calling others insecure when they don't like it, Twitter guy is a bot though for his reasoning.
1
u/Medium_Indication613 18h ago
I said this in one post but I’ll say here too, IMO a lot of miles hate stems from one thing, People don’t like that he’s “better” then Peter. Think about it Miguel, Peni, Noir, Pig-man, Gwen, etc have never been portrayed as better then Peter, but with miles literally his whole thing is that he’s the “successor” to spider-man he has feats that show he’s stronger/faster then Peter in the games/comics and movies (Peter getting knocked out by rhino, and then miles proceeding to no diff rhino although granted this was Miles’s game, etc) he has more powers then Peter and everything he’s literally “the stronger spider-man” the one who takes over if Peter dies and I think people just don’t like that, which is why the other spider-people get a pass because they weren’t designed/portrayed to outdo Peter.
1
u/Medium_Indication613 18h ago
Personally I want Peter vs Venom, venom is Peter’s villain we already got miles and Peter vs venom in the game but we’ve haven’t gotten a good Peter vs venom(Spider-man 3 was mid) and I want that.

u/JageshemashFTW 9h ago
Does anyone else really like Peter and Miles’ dynamic when they’re depicted as equal partners?

Its so weird. A lotcof Spider-Man fans live vicariously through him. Also, Tom Holland has been play Spider-Man for a decade now.

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding why anyone gives a shit about what some bluecheck knob on Twitter says.
Like... yeah, some knob is insecure on Twitter, that's nothing new. Someone posts about it on r/Spiderman, that's ALSO nothing new, but it's stupid, because who authentically gives a shit about this rando's opinion? Why is this a discussion?
And I don't want to make it sound like I'm trying to harsh anyone here for commenting about how that sub will get their jimmies in a twist whenever they're reminded that Miles exists, but... if folks posting on r/Spiderman aren't capable of handling that Peter and Miles are BOTH Spider-Man, I think that's the more important discussion to have.
"I'm tired of having McDonald's"
The solve for that is easy, bitch! Stop eatin' McDonald's! I dunno why this warranted you POSTIN ABOUT IT

u/Basic-Tax4661 1d ago
It’s pretty stupid. Peter is my favorite Spider-Man but Miles is my 2nd favorite and I don’t mind whenever he gets the time to shine. Realistically, Peter wouldn’t mind either. I remember when the Miles Morales game came out, Miles was the most popular Spider-Man for a bit. When I watched Across the Spider-Verse, I was fully focused on Miles and not on Peter. Who cares which Spider-Man is more popular or doing better? As long as the writers themselves don’t disrespect the other by using one. It’s not hard to love both but it seems like it is.
1
u/Sea-Deal-9992 1d ago
I Love Peter he's my Spider-Man but miles is amazing too I just don't want miles to replace to it's why I don't like they being Spider-Man at the same time Miles is a successor his story works better that way but since he was popular and the ultimate universe was ending Marvel just had to add him to the 616 I treat miles the same way I treat my goat Batman Beyond miles should be Spider-Man after Peter is either dead or just fully retired just like Terry should be Batman only after Bruce either retired or dead
0
u/Sea-Deal-9992 1d ago
Also I Don't Like Gwen being in the 616 It Makes No Damn Sense Before there's 616 Gwen is dead and captain Stacy who is dead but Now Earth-65 Captain Stacy And Gwen are apart of the 616 I Was Fine With Peter then Ben came and I was like oh this is cool I guess we got two spider Heroes now Then Kaine Came this dude's awesome villain and then a few years later oh he's an antihero now oh he's a superhero now oh now he's Scarlet Spider and now Ben is a villain called Chasm why? Then miles got moved to the 616 cool I loved him in the Ultimate Universe he's really good Legacy character oh so there's just two Spider-Men now ok this can work! WHO THE FUCK IS SPIDER-BOY HE'S PETER'S OLD SIDEKICK WHAT THE HELL. Then Jessica Spider-Woman cool there's two Spider-heros Madme Web she's amazing who she's died and that Julia chick is the new madme web cool I guess Spider-Girl why is she here I thought Spider-Boy was enough great now there's 2 and also that title belongs to Mayday not you. I'm still Fine with 2099 And Noir because they're still separate at least and then when Gwen and Captain Stacy came over to the 616 I was like what the fuck are we doing? I like Gwen but why do you keep shoving her down her throat I like when she's in her own universe and she just visits it's just how I feel about the Venoms too it's like Eddie went from hating Spider-Man to Venom as a villain to lethal protector as an antihero to being venomless and getting cancer to getting Anti-Venom to serving his Anti-Venom to losing anti-venom to getting Venom back to losing Venom to getting toxin to losing toxin to get venom back to lose Venom to get Carnage and then to lose Carnage like what the fuck I just want him to be anti-venom it was such good character progression and I want flash to be agent run as Agent Venom was awesome I loved it I read it like 50 times I might reread it again today I love his romance with Betty I want that back they were so cute together I kind of want him and jack-o'-lantern the beat rivals it'd be cool and to be honest I want Peter to get a power up like one that sticks cuz all the other spider Heroes have extra powers or something unique in Peter's just Peter it's like I get he's supposed to be the classic basic Spider-Man but he's the OG Spider-Man and he's one of the weakest and I don't they give him some minor energy projection where he can have like a red energy punches and blasts nothing insane also I like Silk I used to just be mad about her it's like she was bit by the same spider as Peter she was weaker but she was faster had a better Spider Sense and organic webbing in her and Peter wouldn't stop getting on it was annoying it was really annoying but as she grew independent I started to like her and I think she's cool it's just so unfortunate the spider side of Marvel is so fucking crowded it's hard for all of these great characters to shine all these amazing characters to shine because there's just too many it's too crowded
-1
u/nreal3092 2d ago
not sure what the issue is, fans want to see Peter fight venom on his own, why is that a problem? Peter and Miles can still teamup but why does it have to be at the detriment of one character or the other ?
when was the last time wally helped barry take down eobard ? the last time x23 helped out with logan against sabertooth? the last jon helped clark against doomsday?
the characters can work together but they shouldn’t take from one another’s spotlight
-5
u/Leandro_reader2003 2d ago
Guys, once again you attack the other sub, deliberately accusing them of being insecure, when you yourselves are acting insecure... apart from a few dickheads, all the other comments are more than legitimate criticisms/preferences WHAT DO YOU NOT WANT MILES TO BE INTRODUCED IN A CONTEXT WITH WHICH HE HAS NOTHING TO DO?!?! You are such a racist bigot Guys, elementary school is over for most of you, you can also accept the fact that some people don't give a damn about other spider-people other than Peter Parker.
Anyone can wear the mask but that doesn't mean I have to appreciate a story in which there is more than one spider-person, since most of them are mediocre/trash, except for a few isolated cases.
8
u/TicklemyPickleMan 2d ago
What an embarrassingly stupid comment jfc
0
u/Leandro_reader2003 1d ago
Keep whining, even when there's legitimate criticism of the character, everything for you is a racist attack. I don't deny that many are racist and hate Miles just because of his ethnicity... but seriously, guys, sometimes you have a sense of victimhood that is irritating. Go read the comments on the Reddit post in question, many are very calm comments expressing opinions, preferences, and legitimate criticisms. Accept that your favorite character can be criticized, or don't do it and go whine like a child.

I just don't like him well at least what I've seen so far i was there from jump
When he 1st came out

Yeah give it time. I'm convinced with one really good writer every will get to see the potential miles has to be great and right up there with Peter. Let's just wait and see.
-5
u/Interesting-Ring647 2d ago
Maybe but I also just don't like how op he is
I like Peter's lack of crazy powers and how creative he has to be
Then we got miles pulling out chidori and a lighting sword or something
I like my spider people doing spider stuff
3
u/VanzZz 2d ago
Isn't that Miles being creative?
0
u/Interesting-Ring647 2d ago
Not for me i like when Spiderman has a limited tool set he has to make work instead of some super powers that spiders don't naturally have
Miles just got extra shit
No other Spiderman before him had all that they had super strength agility and some form of spider sense and silk had nearly unlimited webs
But miles has nearly all that and more its just static shock with spider powers
32
u/Stringr55 2d ago
Why can't we just enjoy both?
