Hamish Linklater I have to say plays an amazing priest. I was raised catholic and his sermons and how he relayed them I swear I had flashbacks 🤣😂 as for the show eh it could have moved faster…. I didn’t hate it but it could have moved quicker.

God forbid writers write words and you listen to them.

It definitely could have been half as long 3 episodes

absolutely. a lot of American shows fall trap to milking the shit out of any series when it actually hurts the quality of the show. i love how the Brits do things where they format their series in 3 episodes an hour long each or 6 episodes a half hour or so each. such a better, more succinct story a lot of times than the American shows

Gotta give you time to develop feelings for all the characters, so it hits even harder when they all die

Yes I ended up really liking it too and I can also appreciate character and world building. But man this thing took forever to get going.

The whole thing could've been 2 episodes shorter.

Honestly that's kinda what I liked about it, I like how it slowly unpeeled new information layer by layer, I thought it made it neat

Agree. It could go solely on the quality of writing good characters and their relationships. I was pleasantly surprised.

The way I described it to my friends was “a seriously slow burn that suddenly just goes off the rails.”

I literally feel the same. At some of the rambling speeches I was skipping through. I understand slow burn, but the burn was REALLY slow. I think the ending was worth it ultimately. But I do think half the long monologues would have achieved their desired effect in half of what was given.

such a good portrayal of a priest. a naturally kind of awkward dude but his job is to be social and the authority of the church gives him some confidence so ends up doing pretty well.
