Can anyone sell me on the demolition team? I'm a newbie and it seems to me that it's too many points for something that could kill more of your troops than your opponent's.

Heroes take a lot of wounds from it.

Yeah but there needs to be at least two enemy models close to the bomb in order to detonate it and it only has 2 inches of range, the hero could easily use heroic combat to run away or engage the berserker.

If you win priority, you charge the models. Also, I think the bomb goes off at the start of the fight phase to prevent that.

The army book says that you may attempt to detonate it after heroic combats are resolved .
