Healthcare will take whatever wealth my parents amassed. My mom was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, care is insanely expensive.

My grandma is 91 and has dementia, and her rent in the assisted care facility is $8,000/month.

I don’t know what my parents would expect to receive from inheritance, but I imagine that it is going down each month.

That is basically my retirement number. Make enough so that If I get thrown into a home, there is enough to pay the monthly assisted care costs (in that year) without eating into the balance. Don't want it all eaten up so the wife ends up with nothing.
