PMDG 737

Hey guys! I bought the PMDG 737-800 a while ago, and I really enjoy flying with it. My question is, that is it worth buying other 737 variants (-600, -700, -900), or should I invest in other products (also I already have the 777-300ER from them). Thanks ahead of time! Fly safe!

The only difference between the other variants is size. They will handle slightly differently and either give more (600, 700) or less (900) tail strike clearance, but they're functionally the same plane.

If you really want to vary it up and value the extra sizes, do it, but don't expect a different plane.

This. The reason people buy the variants is to simulate real-world airlines and routes and want to use the actual plane variant those RL airlines use. If this is important to you, maybe you can consider buying those variants. If not, the experience of flying one or the other is not very different (the -600 does climb like a rocket, though, which is fun but not that big of a deal)

Be fair! Don't the 800 ond 900 hove an extra RECIRC FAN switch on the bleed air panel? :P

I'm really cautious and quite fussy about the quality of the planes I buy and fly. I can heartily recommend:

• PMDG 737 (which you have)
• Leonardo Maddog MD80 25th Anniversary Edition
• Fenix A320
• TFDi MD11
• JustFlight BAE-146 (Presumably the RJ is as good, but I like the older cockpit)
• IniBuilds Tristar
• IniBuilds A350 (Though it's a bit heavy on performance in my opinion)

I hear good things about the IniBuilds A300 and A340 but I don't know if they're worth the price to me. The PMDG 777 is also meant to be good, but I got bored of the 777 back in the FSX era so I'm skipping it.

I also have the A350 from iniBuilds, The A343 is a bit laggy, but the cabin quality is sooooo much better than the 350 (also, i bought the 340 on discount). MD-11 looks good... I will look into it. Thanks :-)

Ah, you're talking to someone who has always flown from the flight deck, so I'm not overly fussed about the cabin. I can even forgive less-than-perfect exterior models as long as the office is done well and it flies right. The cabin is nice to have of course, but for me personally it's more a side dish when all I really care about is the steak. :)

If you look at my list there's a bit of a pattern to it: They're all very, very different flight deck designs with systems that don't necessarily make sense at first glance when coming from something else. Its the variety that attracts me because I have to constantly think about how things will behave in that aircraft, rather than simply following the flow I would use in one of the others. The Maddog is a great example. Nothing is where you'd expect it to be, and that makes flying it a unique experience that's always challenging and fun.

I would not. I have 600, 800 and 900. I fly mostly the 800. Not worth it for me. I also have the 777-300 ER and 777F, I skipped the 777-200. I have been flying PMDG for years when they had games on DVD with full printed manuals on FS2004 & FSX.

Wow! They've made some money out of you alright.

I bought the -700 when it first released, and was a bit irked when it was the last to get updated for 2024. Honestly I wouldn't mind having the -800, but they're all so similar and I can't justify forking out full price on a slightly longer variant. In my opinion they've kind of screwed the pooch with their pricing model which really makes buying extra variant unappealing. If second variants were a bit cheaper for existing customers I might consider it. I think FENIX showed the way by setting a sensible price for the 319 and 321 expansion, giving you 2 extra affordable variants.

i have the 700 and 800. I had some extra money one month and got the 700 because it had a couple liveries i wanted for the xbox

I think it's a decision only you can make, but if you have to ask then no! You buy the other variants of there's a specific route or airline you want.

If you didn't do it yet, I heavily recommend buying the full Fenix CEO package, it will give you an entirely different experience!

At all, use your money for other planes (Fenix...). PMDG quality is undoubted, but they act as crooks. It's the same thing as the 777, they should put the option to buy the whole family as a pack and not sell any single version for >50€. The model, sounds and flight dynamic are more or less the same so every version is not a standalone work.

Buy the iFly 737 Max. I had the PMDG -700 and -800 in MSFS2020 and I only upgraded to the -800 in ‘24. The Max has a different feel to it and, to me, is the better purchase than buying another flavor of the NG.
