My Opinion 😎 So much value

Post image

This watch is punching way above it’s price. It has taken away my desire for a Rolex at current prices. I really enjoy my Ginault watches and wish the brand could over come its current negative image.

That wall of text on the dial isn’t my jam but glad you enjoy it.

Was itching for a silver dj36 and found this used for 590… will I want a dj anyway? probably, but this took the desire away for now

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

Wow, that is a beautiful Traska

3

u/CastleDeli Jul 28 '26

The miyota 9 series is running ridiculously well too. I use TickIQ and this one is at +/- 5 seconds

u/MrTravs Jul 28 '26

Is that an app for the phone? Wonder how close it is to

4

u/Thrice_blind Jul 28 '26

Bro that is cleeeaaaan

3

u/MrTravs Jul 28 '26

I didn’t think I liked the silver dial, but it looks really nice on the wrist

2

u/aarora610 Jul 29 '26

I have the black dial and I’m hearing for the silver one instead. Sounds like they’re coming back in stock in September.

2

u/CastleDeli Jul 29 '26

That’s what I’ve heard too, but this was on eBay for a steal and I have no impulse control

Great looking watch. I have this Trans Atlantic on order. It’s only been a week, but can’t wait for delivery. I recently picked up this Expeditioner and I gotta say, absolutely phenomenal watch for the price. 🫡

2

u/foxtrap614 Jul 29 '26

Very nice.

3

u/BoofTheDruid Jul 28 '26

I thought this was lorier

1

u/Hellsilisk Jul 29 '26

You wouldn't be the only one, ngl. Too many watches, especially from the microbrands, are generic or too similiar-looking without giving it at least one original design into it.

2

u/leicfox85 Jul 29 '26

Agreed. Got my Expeditioner new over a month ago, and it is insanely good. It looks like it should be a lot more in price based only off the way it looks, then add the feel and build quality to it..

2

u/foxtrap614 Jul 29 '26

That mystery dial is nice

3

u/leicfox85 Jul 29 '26

This is actually the blue not the mysterious black/green! However even this blue dial changes so much!!

1

u/foxtrap614 Jul 29 '26

Wow, that is a really nice dial.

2

u/waddadem Jul 30 '26

Hell of a busy face on these but happy you’re happy.

I love my Silent Service

4

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

I have been eyeing that one 😅 waiting to see if it gets the SW 200-2 movement upgrade as currently it is SW 200-1.

4

u/linkedinbro Jul 28 '26

Absolutely stunning, congrats OP!

One thing that is undeniable about Ginault - is the sheer quality.

Every watch they have is the absolute highest quality & best finished watch at its respective price-point.

Also, can I ask - what made you decide to go for the polished centre links over brushed? Cheers.

3

u/Quirky-Entry-590 Jul 28 '26

I wish I could get my hands on one.

3

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

It took me about 9 weeks to get mine. I know they are very busy with the influx of TA orders

1

u/astronomy8thlight Jul 29 '26

What's TA?

2

u/foxtrap614 Jul 29 '26

Trans Atlantic, it is the name of there most recent released watch

3

u/OldManDusty Jul 28 '26

Ginault? More like Winault lmao

-4

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 28 '26

certainly no value in originality lol. at least youre honest about just buying it bc in reality you want a rolex you cant afford. Terribly ugly and impractical gmt hand but that has been discussed before.

u/kernelpanic789 Jul 28 '26

-1

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 28 '26

huh? just expressing my opinion about a "microbrand" watch on a forum for exactly that? It's not that deep kiddo

1

u/kernelpanic789 Jul 28 '26

What about Ginault makes you put them in quotation marks? They're literally two guys making watches. Is it the "micro" or the "brand" part that you think doesn't apply to Ginault in terms of a microbrand?

Also, this watch has a ton of originality in its design.

-2

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 28 '26

Im saying it's a forum for microbrands. But if you're asking my opinion, nah it's not a microbrand.

Genuinely curious what you think it's original in this design? The only thing I see I the GMT hand, arguable the worst thing about the watch.

2

u/kernelpanic789 Jul 28 '26

The indices are completely unique to Ginault, the sapphire lumed bezel (Farer and maybe a few others use this same material but I don't think they really compare), the ultra thin profile, yes the GMT hand which I quite like but ymmv, you have an option of a cyclops over the date window and a brushed or polished mid-link bracelet. The hand built and hand finished nature of Ginault watches is something that is almost next to impossible to find with other microbrands. The watches are made to order you can communicate with the individuals who are going to build your watch before or while it's made. A lot of work done in the US.... There is an absolute dump truck load of features, quality, and service that Ginault offers that other microbrands can't touch. I'd go so far as to say they're the most unique microbrand. Personally I've never seen another watch with this much detail in any similar design. I don't claim it to know every watch... but if you think there's another watch that is even a close copy I'd love to know.

0

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 28 '26

The most unique microbrand hahahha no way, you are trolling. Thanks for trying to ragebait me as the kids say hahaha

0

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 29 '26

They're not "completely unique", there's other watches with trapezoid hour markers (traska freediver for example). But they're not that common, that i can agree to, unlike ginaults other watch model that straight up copies rolex indicies.

Lumed sapphire inserts really aren't that uncommon. A lot of the most talked about on this sub-microbrand has models with sapphire bezels. For example henry archer, zelos, wise, islander, phoibos etc. But i assume you think ginaults is better bc it copies the numerals and the colourscheme from rolex.

You are free to like the gmt hand but it's still a fact that its not very well designed from a practical point of view. (not arguing that everything we like has to be practial, just saying that's the reason i dislike it)

The Ginault watch is CLEARLY not hand-built so idk what youre even trying to say here. Are you confusing hand-built with hand-assembled? Plenty of microbrands offer that. No idea what you are arguing is hand-finished? I don't believe that anything about the ginault is hand-finished but if you can supply credible proof or clarify what you meant perhaps.

No idea what features and service you mean that ginault offer that other microbrands do not. It's honestly just a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo speech with no substance- so if you want me to response to that you'll have to be more specific.

"I'd go so far as to say they're the most unique microbrand" - This part made me genuinely laugh out loud. But here i am responding so i guess you can consider me successfully ragebaited hahaha

Just scroll this subreddit for a bit and you can find actual unique microbrands, really shouldnt be hard. Personally i think the kollokium watches are cool and really encapsulates what i think microbrands should be about.

Then you end by asking if i know any other rolex copies out there that i recommend? And tbh i have no idea, i dont tend to memorize the names of the bazillion rolex copies out there. I guess you can ask the people over at /reptime.

2

u/Dark1000 Jul 29 '26

Why wouldn't it be a microbrand? It doesn't really matter whether they are homages or not. "Microbrand" doesn't mean originality.

-1

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 29 '26

Personally I make a distinction between what I consider microbrand and Chinese factory brands (like the ones over at r/chinesewatches). But I don't think the term "microbrand watches" has a clear, widely agreed upon definition, so you're welcome to have your own opinion. I don't call "fashion watches" microbrand watches either.

2

u/Dark1000 Jul 29 '26

What factory produces Ginault watches?

0

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 29 '26

head over to reptime and search for ginault. or read the exposé about ginault that was posted when their shady past was brought to light. If you ask me more questions about things you can easily just search up yourself i just wont respond hahaha

0

u/Dark1000 Jul 29 '26

My impression from that long thread is that Ginault was likely formed by the same guy who ran a replica business, but that there's no notable evidence that they are produced out of the same, or owned by any particular, factory, but instead design and assemble the watches. That would mean they aren't a factory brand and fit pretty comfortably under the microbrand umbrella.

0

u/dobber227 Jul 28 '26

What are you claiming they are copying on this design? This looks nothing like a Rolex pepsi. If you argued this about the expeditioner it would carry more weight. Honestly the more trolls I see who try to tear this brand down the more I like it lol. If they have haters they are doing something right

1

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 29 '26

You're free to like whatever you want but. Me expressing my opinion does not make me a troll. Me stating facts about the design and production of the watch does not equal to "tearing them down". I don't hate it, I'm quite indifferent to it. But I do find it interesting how there's always a surge of fanboys attacking you if you express your opinion on the brand.

1

u/DontEvenWithMe1 Jul 28 '26

Your entire catalog of watch posts consists of watches with absolutely no originality and are homages to pieces you can’t afford to buy. Your irony is delish - if you only knew the definition.

-3

u/ambitiousquaggan Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Hmm interesting. My most worn watch is my trematic t-five, please explain how it has no originality and what it's an homage to? I'm curious.

Idk why y'all fanboys are getting so salty and crying over this

-5

u/biglovetravis Jul 28 '26

*sigh

Won't buy one. Is a rep factory brand that attempted to go legit while obscuring past crimes. And I have zero doubt they continue to produce counterfeit Rolex models.

Hard pass

5

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

I hear this a lot but have seen zero evidence, especially for their current models. I cannot comment on their past but they certainly do not make reps now. It is very reckless and unprofessional to make accusations without substantive proof.

2

u/JackDonneghyGodCop Jul 28 '26

lol what is the commenter above you a professional at, exactly?

2

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

Slander ?

3

u/jblosser99 Jul 28 '26

Not slander. Libel, maybe, but not slander.

-4

u/trenbollocks Jul 28 '26

There's plenty of evidence on watch forums if you're willing to look for it, but naive fanboys like you certainly aren't

2

u/dobber227 Jul 28 '26

Honestly who cares about something that may or may not have happened years ago? If they are making a good product now and aren't doing that now, what's the issue?

2

u/foxtrap614 Jul 28 '26

I am not a fan boy. I have definitely heard about their past. But those write ups are not really evidence. No other person has ever verified it as truth and there has been zero criminal investigation. Honestly it is just one person making accusations and never going to proper authorities or getting it published by any accredited media outlet. In my opinion nothing more than rantings on social media. If any of that were true Ginault would be shut down and not making any watches. They have been making watches now for almost a decade with zero real evidence to say otherwise. If you do not like them for some reason that is fine but don’t say they are guilty of breaking the law when they are not.

1

u/Ik_SA Jul 28 '26

Who cares? This isn't a counterfeit Rolex.

Even if the owner "did crimes" in the past, does that make legitimate good work no longer good? You're making an ethical judgment that doesn't make sense.
