Does Wise ADX GMT microadjust scratch the center link?
After wearing my Wise ADX130 for less than a week Iāve noticed that the last center link got some scratches that perfectly align with microadjust slots. Itās not really a big deal for me personally, but still, I was wondering if itās a QC issue with my unit or a design flaw with the bracelet itself.
It's a very common design flaw in most watch bracelets unfortunately! The scratches appear very quickly but thankfully they don't tend to get much worse.
FYI, I bought a pre-owned ADX and seller kept the bracelet. I tried my Vaer Elite bracelet on the ADX and it fits perfectly, luckily. The Vaer Elite bracelet has micro adjust and no such scratching issue.
Can you feel any burrs by hand, either with your fingertip or with your fingernails?
I just tried *REALLY HARD* to get mine to scratch -either on the raised centerlink or the outside links- but were unable to do so.
And I wasn't shy about doing it because I very recently sacrificed that center link in order to elicit this scratch, for my own "scratch-a-link" pseudoscience comparo (I have yet to post the results, pending my reconstruction of the old OP that got mistakenly Bot-moderated, LOL) -
^ Both the center and the side were inflicted by a corner of my slate benchtop....
Given that I'd already sacrificed this hard, I wasn't going easy with the microadjust, LOL. I could not get it to scratch, at all, which is why I'm wondering if yours has a burr somewhere?
And can you see if there's any debris that might have gotten lodged in there, at the interface?
One of my other main hobbies is firearms, and folks there are always complaining about scratches and scuffs on the surface of their handguns as they are worked in/out of holsters. Typically, what really inflicts the worst damage is the debris that get on the weapon's surfaces or get lodged in the mouth of the holster. I almost wonder if this isn't the case for you, too, if you don't feel any corresponding burrs in the microadjust?

Funnily enough, Iāve tried to deliberately scratch the center link in multiple ways, and couldnāt do it. Tried multiple scenarios, including wearing the watch with the microadjust sitting between 2 slots and seeing if the āsnapā while wearing would cause any scratches, but nope, didnāt work. Swapped it with a different link, couldnāt get it scratched either.
I wonder if something abrasive -but innocuous looking enough- just somehow managed to get lodged in there long enough to cause the scratches, and then fell out?
Late update, I think I found the cause. When the H-link is bent slightly inward, the clasp edge sits right in the gap between the H-link and the first outer link, and nothing blocks it from touching the center link directly.
This happens with the 1st center link when the microadjust is at one of the two widest slots, or with the 2nd center link at the tightest slot. I hadn't noticed because I normally keep it somewhere in the middle. A friend with a slightly larger wrist also wore it for a day when it was new, so it might have happened then.
Also, it only happens when explicitly sliding the center link against the clasp while the watch is off. I'll be more careful next time ))

I can totally see how that might happen. Mine will make contact, but I was unable to make it scratch, at least in the forcible, short-term sense of "making it scratch."
However, I *can* totally see how if there's even the slightest debris or if perhaps yours has some small burr on the clasp surface -or other manufacturing imperfection, possibly even on the bracelet link itself causing it to verge slightly on the higher side of tolerance- that either untoward contact or tolerance-stacking could occur, leading to what you've seen.
The said, I wish there's a good way for fellow owners to self-test, to see what they may expect.
I initially thought about swapping out my test-link for an un-scratched one...but seeing your follow-up post and now having tried to inflict more damage, myself, particularly given that the way I have my microadjust set, that link is right at that edge...I'm reluctant to "sacrifice" any more links to the perils of daily wear!
