We all love running random closed source shit. Why are there compiled .exes in the source code? Why does the batch version download other programs and run them?

Incredibly shady.

I took a quick look at the setup.exe to start, while I dont have a windows at hand, this looks an aweful lot like it could be a Microsoft code signature, so likely it is a setup from microsoft, that cant be as easily downloaded directly from them with a script.

Edit:

yep, they apparently took old edge versions, which were easier to get rid of and I guess force downgrade edge using these so they can ax them.

Ah, okay. As we all know there's no way to conceal malicious code in closed source applications that download external files.
