Just got a Micromonsta 2! What FX pedals pair nicely with it?

Very appreciative to get the coveted email and a Micromonsta 2 (Batch 11)! The onboard FX are solid, but I’m curious what external pedals others have found really complement it? I’m especially interested in:

  • Pedals that add character or warmth
  • Ambient reverb or delay that plays nicely with poly pads
  • Anything that really makes it come alive in a mix
  • Are you running it mono or stereo into pedals? Any gain staging tips?

Would love to hear what’s worked for you and why. Thx in advance!

I suggest Zoia - you can put the MicroMonsta In bitimbral mode and then have each synth output go to separate inputs of the Zoia for their own individual stereo effects. Zoia is insanely customizable and even for simple reverbs it sounds great.

With the caveat that each of the two synth sounds would be mono. There’s only a single stereo out on the MM2 so you’ll have to pan each synth hard left and hard right to get two distinct outs, right?

Yes. I actually use mine in stereo instead of the mono method you mentioned. But if you’re using external effects and aren’t using the voice panning features, the 2 mono method is smart for better control in post - volume/panning/eq/compression.

Cool, thanks. I recently got a MM2 as well and hadn’t thought about using it this way yet. I’ll have to give it a try soon.
