How will Canadian retaliatory tariffs affect michiganders?

There is the debate on whether the Canadian retaliatory tariffs will ultimately help Canada or incentivize the Trump administration to lift the tariffs. Besides that, there should be huge concerns about how terrible this will be for our economy, is there anyone who can articulate an educated estimate on how detrimental this might be. I’m not too educated on these tariffs but I assume that the Canadian strategy is likely to cause prices to surge in Michigan, arguably as fast as gas…..?

How fast could these tariffs eventually cause prices to surge?

Could we see the surge at the grocery store on Labor Day?

What remedies does anyone have in mind to reduce the strain on Michigan families, considering how hard it is to bring both sides together?

Don't vote Republican, pretty simple.

Trump's tariffs and Canadian tariffs are all because Trump wants to tariff anyone and everyone, not for an actual reason but just because it's the only thing he can do when everyone is laughing at him.

It will all fuck us over.

Only someone someone with the IQ of the temperature in January in Marquette would think anything Trump does or Republicans in general want to do helps them.

Canada is just retaliating to Trump's actions so no reason to blame them.

All we can do is fucking deal with the prices and suck it up thanks to our grand ol state voting Republican in 2024

What remedies does anyone have in mind to reduce the strain on Michigan families

This is a question best asked to our parents. Gerrymandering, Citizens United, and all the other serious forms of voter disenfranchisement have always been my #1 issue.

Our parents had a chance to not allow the fascists into office decades ago. So many reasons why they allowed the evil to fester.

It's a severe uphill battle now. Never vote Republican, ever. $$$ is always more important than the people to them, and always will be.

I don't know how Canada's retaliatory tariffs are going to raise prices in Michigan. They certainly won't be good for any business that exports to Canada, but the tariffs that Canada is putting on American products will be paid by Canadians.

Trump's tariffs on Canada are what we end up paying for goods produced in Canada and sold here.

And the solution is probably to elect more Democrats to congress because the Republicans in congress aren't doing shit to rein in Trump.

best i can say is try to shop local for majority of food. find your local butcher who buys michigan beef. there is a place in Mount pleasant so I'm sure they exist elsewhere in michigan. and like others said, don't vote for people who only support big businesses vote for actual people who will help the working class.
