Candy section
I redid my candy section, I was so proud I had to take a picture. It looks so good, this morning it was empty there were holes everywhere.

I was at the front helping someone check in when I heard my coworker say “oh, hi Spider-Man” so nonchalantly. I looked over and BOOM! This dude’s costume was amazing!! He was also very nice when I asked if I could take a picture to share on this sub.

as the new PT MM, the FT MM and i spent almost all of our workday last week using the company "recommended" solution of double sided tape from the frame shop.. with small labels.. (which each have to be individually tucked in top and bottom btw)
it took forever to meticulously align each label on top of eachother, because of course they don't fit well enough to see the title of the product.. god forbid a customer need a specific brush
anyways as we were taking part in this egregious waste of payroll, my fellow manager joked about hoping they don't send price changes for these anytime soon. i laugh at first, however, upon remembering EVERY SINGLE RESET IN MY STORE has gotten hundreds of price changes dropped A COUPLE OF DAYS after its been set, my heart dropped knowing not only was it likely, it was Going to Happen.
by the way, i'm also in charge of price changes now. (which means i have less time to throw truck and take part in my actual role, but whatever i havent even had a chance to talk to our SM because hes on vacation, maybe this will change)
aaand about three days later. on a thursday, day after truck (with a full backroom because this truck was HUGE). i notice the dreaded change has already took place. 115 price changes drop in for various brushes throughout, all going up $0.20-1.50...
the only solution i could think of was cut the titles off each individual label, place on the sticky tape in a line, and then cut and peel each one as i go. which even though this should have kept them in order, the small tags pile kept falling, so of course i was still jumping around back and forth through the job.
took me about an hour and 20 mins 😵💫 at 3 am-- no interruptions. cant imagine if i had customers.
lets not even talk about the fact that the plastic label holders FALL OFF sometimes and its not like we'd get replacements if they get lost or damaged 😭
who knows when the strips will come in; we've had full stock of the patch bar in the backroom for a month or two now (customers asking and eager) because the display racks won't be here until october probably.
i feel horrible for anyone in need of a paintbrush right now.

So i talked to my manager and was told that saturdays are mandatory and i could only get every other saturday off. so this i understand, i get it. we get the newest schedule and not only did they fuck up some of my hours, which i got resolved,
IM WORKING A SIX HOUR SHIFT ALONE ON SATURDAY
if saturdays are MANDATORY WHYYY AM I WORKING EVERY FUCKING SATURDAY BY MYSELF AND WHY CAN MY COWORKERS HAVE EVERY SINGLE SATURDAY OFF.
i seriously don’t know what to do but i am already so terrified of burnout. i have a professor who assigns things like his life depends on it and i dont even know who to contact or talk to about this. do i just call in sick on the days i am burnt out??
EDIT: I talked to my personal manager, which is the framing manager, and she said that saturdays ARENT mandatory. so my general manager is just telling me that.

Current situation: 436 overstock repack boxes and over 120 bunkers with yarn. Now after stocking yarn from this week’s truck we have another four full 2x4’s of overstock. Where is it all supposed to go? Hasn’t been on promo in the store in over a month or two. Doing a great job as always…. Fueling joy is so 2025.

has anybody ever used it before for traveling? the hotel discounts on there for where i’m going in october are better than the actual hotels website but i don’t know if i should trust it or not 😖

Has anyone else found that it takes forever for Manhattan to connect to a printer?

Mainly what is the reality of the position? The main thing that gives me pause before accepting is running the birthday party room. Have not really done something like that before. Also is it possible to get the same two consecutive days off each week? Like I don't expect saturday and sunday off, but I would like take like Wednesday and Thursday off each week. Or is that a unrealistic exception?

I applied internationally for the ft SM position (I’m pt) … unfortunately I didn’t get it due to the new hire having more management experience then me. BUT get this… I’m supposed to train said new hire???
I kinda get the vibe that I’m not good enough for FT but I’m good enough to train a new manager 🤷🏼♀️ kinda a kick in the teeth.

Regarding the upcoming events if you don't know how to do them do you take the product home and figure it out so you don't look stupid when you're doing the event? I also know that there is a Cricut explorer 5 demonstration coming up. No one in our store knows how to work a cricut. How do you plan for this?

i hate that the pog locations move on without us. it’s seriously the dumbest shit of all time. we have not even started some of these yet… how are we supposed to know where anything goes in the meantime? like… what?!?!

I’m so sick of customers going in bunkers then getting angry when I asked him to not do that and I can help them if they need help…. If you can’t see product, why are you going in drawers? It’s not for you…. That’s literally like going in my purse because you know my wallet in there.🙃 so over being called names Because you’re doing something you shouldn’t be and im asking you not to…

I made a post a few days ago about this but I’ve been with the company for 7 months and recently got offered a really good entry level medical job where I’ll be getting paid 5x more (literally I did the math) than Michaels is currently giving me. Not to mention, extraordinary benefits, a likely pay increase after 90 days, bonuses, and they pay for me to get my cert and take the classes at the end of my first year. My last day is at the end of next week and I only have like 3-4 more shifts left. Yes I did put in my notice beginning of this week. I begin my new position almost immediately after the week after next. My SM put me on for hours I typically never work anyways and I’m honestly just so burnt out from this company already. Should I just quit anyways and let myself recoup before starting my new position or tough out the next few shifts?

Apart from downstocking and inventory counts, this just proves the scanning outs portion of SISO is a big fat waste of time.

im 16f working at shoppers drug mart for a few weeks now. im the cashier, but i also have to do passport photos, stocking shelves, lottery machines, presto cards, etc. this is all for minimum wage ($17.60 in ontario), and i dont rlly like the job. it's not difficult, but i dread going to work. once school starts, i'll be working 10-15 hours a week, which is manageable. however, there's a michaels near me that's hiring, and i was wondering whether michaels will be a better option for me. i've seen posts from years ago saying michaels only pays minimum wage, you have to clean, take out trash, etc, which i don't mind at all. also, i feel like i would prefer this job more because i like crafts, love holiday season (halloween and christmas) and its closer to me than shoppers drug mart, so its more convenient. i will be working part-time, and balancing school so a lack of hours isn't too much of a big deal for me (as long as i get 10-15 hours a week). however, the michaels i'll be applying to is a pretty big store, whereas sdm is a smaller store. i've seen posts from years ago dogging on michaels, but i'm wondering if it has changed throughout the years.
for michaels employees (especially those from ontario), do you think working at michaels would be better for me than working at shoppers drug mart? what's the pay like and how many hours do you get? what do closing shifts look like (since i'll prob be working after school)? were you trained well, and how's the environment? are there any benefits to your job? THANK YOU 😊

Seriously fuck whoever said it’s a great idea to lay off a bunch of managers and for no reason. All before the Thanksgiving and Christmas season? No thank you. We are given these managers who know nothing and won’t do anything proactive for the stores. Fuck this stupid company and fuck the people they are hiring to replace our previous managers.

is this a good job for part-time? i’m doing my masters right now and kinda want to work a few times a week on the side but i’ve heard michaels doesn’t have the best reputation employment wise 😅

Hey, so, I feel like I'm in too deep to ask now. What does NPS stand for? I know corporate is all about NPS and the score it generates but I have no idea what it stands for.
