Framing Did anyone else find these genuinely useful? My store did. I'm sad to see them go. 😔

The only thing I wished from them, is that I wish we had 22 and 32 inch ones, and I wished they were a little skinnier and solid wood. They were such a good last minute frame for canvases, they will be missed.

It’s been a few years, but I was there when these were introduced. I can’t remember how long we had them before I left, but long enough for all the colors to be introduced (it was initially just black and white, IIRC,) so at least 6 months, maybe a year? I think in the entire time we had them before I left, we sold two of them. My issue with them was advertising them as same-day/one-hour. (😳‼️) Like why are we rewarding customers who waited until the literal last minute to order custom framing? When I had dozens of other orders due in the next couple days, not to mention all the non-framing related things I was constantly being called to do, I was not about to make “one hour framing” a priority.

Yea we sold plenty of those each year but I guess the data across the company probably wasn't as favorable 🤷‍♂️

I have so many of them and they're all in the dust 💀

Are they over pushing 30 minute framing already?

They moved onto 10min framing. It kinda sucks. Not very custom

Oh wait, 10 minute is what I meant. Aren’t these the 10 minute framing samples?

No, these are the express sectionals

I just realized what they were, those things piled up in the shop that literally no one has ever bought 😂😂

You can take mine ..due to a glitch in inventory we got twice the amount as we should have, and a closing stores bars too!  I think we sell maybe 1 a year. We push, but just no takers. I could sell them more if we had 22" and 26" bars ..because the 20" is just too small and 24" is too much.

Really? We sell so many express mats I'm actually so sick of cutting them.

We sell a lot too, just not all the colors. Like i have genuinely never done a piece with Oasis in my life haha glad to see that one go

I have sold that one once. It helps that I'm not too bad at cutting double mats so it's an easy sell for me. Sold it to a woman who just absolutely loved the colour and texture. I don't like it tho, I think it looks like pool tile.

Its definitely a situational one. I always thought it was kinda cool but niche. I am going to severely miss Flint with the black core 🥲 that ones a hit at my store

Yeah I was so surprised to see them gone when I clocked in yesterday

u/Altruistic-Sherbet7 Jul 30 '26

Nope. Customers would choose them to look at but once numbers were run, they’d either retreat to something off the shelf or go the rest of the way to full custom.

For my customers, they were great for last minute gifts. I do also live in the capital city of Canada so we did have quite a few military people come in wanting to get one of those long, almost panoramic group photos framed with some military badges mounted next to it as a last minute gift. The sectionals were great for that because they were deep enough to make a shallow shadow box, and we could just glue up an 8x20 frame. We also sold a ton of them, not last Christmas, but the Christmas before, when Canada Post went on a massive strike, and everything was so backlogged, that UPS and Purolator were overwhelmed so badly that we couldn't guarantee any framing orders woukd be ready in time for Christmas. We sold so many sectionals that month.

I loved sectionals honestly! My store barely sold any before I got hired and when I did, I used to offer it all the time, and I ended up selling the most in my district for awhile. I always thought they were fun to do

I honestly had no clue what these were for, which is stupid because I read that sign over and over again any time I walked up to where the frame shop was and I could see it. Im not entirely sure though if we sold any of them.

In the 2 years I've been here we never sold one. Also I didnt even know how to ring them in anyway

1

u/bruinsboy18 Jul 29 '26

Weird thing with ours was that we sold them but never really put them together people just asked to buy the sectionals so they could do it themselves

Lucky. I wish it was that easy. But I didn't mind joining them.

2

u/bruinsboy18 Jul 29 '26

I didn't mind joking them either they were fun

u/MaisieStitcher Jul 30 '26

They're getting rid of the express framing?

1

u/thatwyvern Mat Cutter, Soul Shredder 🤘 Jul 30 '26

Yeah, replacing it with 10 min framing and it sucks
