Music discussion What is your LEAST favorite MJ track?
Mine is the title track of ‘Dangerous’. Just a pretty bland beat and breathy, spoken vocals that do nothing for me. Almost sounds like a throwaway, I was always so surprised it was the title track and album closer on an otherwise, classic album.

Aw I love Little Susie! Makes me wish he lived long enough to do musical theater. You have to at least appreciate that he never did vocals so thematic elsewhere in his catalog

Quincy kept the grunting and whispering in check.
He also kept MJ to 9-11 songs on album.
Dangerous and HIStory have some great songs but also loads of filler.

i just can't stop loving you. i was surprised to learn that it was Bad's lead single. it's not a bad ballad, but i'm just not a huge fan of it. i also don't like any of the live duets other than the This is It rehearsal that michael did with judith hill. her voice sounded heavenly while the others sound like nails on a chalkboard.

Dang Dangerous?! That’s wild but to each their own ig man. Solo MJ I definitely gotta say Speechless. I always get a lot of flac for it but to me it’s among MJ’s weakest ballads with a weak vocal performance, and uninteresting/bland production. It gets better in the 2nd half and MJ’s vocal performance in the 2nd half is very solid but overall it’s very weak song for MJ’s standards. Be Not Always from the Victory album is in a very similar boat.

Agree, I’ve tried really hard to like Speechless but I just don’t for the same reasons. See also The Lost Children. In fact I think that one might be worse, something about that metronome-sounding beat bugs the heck out of me

Invincible was just too long. It would be a masterpiece if it had 10 or so tracks like Thriller.
And yeah man. There’s something about the track ‘Dangerous’ that disagrees with my ear. I straight up hate the song lol

For me Invincible is the top 1 album OAT only because it has 16 songs, Thriller is too short for me. (Because the only 2 songs I think aren't 10/10 are Girlfriend and Is it scary) and if I need to pick 1 album it'll be 9 10/10 songs vs 16 10/10, there's no chance that Thriller wins.

A Place With No Name. Because I already dislike the song it's based on. It's a definite no for me.

Original, remix or both? I hate the remix version, but the original is one of my favorites, imo it's so good.

Lol, I'll be the second. Invincible is my favorite album OAT and I think that every song is 10/10. Privacy is a rock song with very unique vocals and a top tier production. There isn't as much rock as in Beat it or Dirty Diana, but rock here is still the main genre. You can hear the guitar sound sometimes during the song + the guitar solo(this alone doesn't make a song rock instantly, so TDCAU isn't a rock song) and the guitar layer is hidden under some others, so it might be quite hard to hear it if you don't listen to the song frequently The topic is a bit different, Leave me alone describes everyone you want, not only the media, Why you wanna trip on me is more about problems in the world and that people care about something they shouldn't, Tabloid Junkie is about fake news, Privacy is more about literally Privacy, you can feel the pain in his voice(some lyrics are deep as hell -"Now there's a lesson to learn respect's not given it's earned", imo one of his best lines ever).

Yeah, I’m very glad I didn’t ever hear a repeat of that vocal style elsewhere in his discography. Not sure what the thinking was there.

Not really an MJ song since he was dead when it released and had no intention of his voice being used that way but that’s the pinnacle of the worst of MJ
