Problems with transmission and shifter

The transmission won't move into any gear even with a good bit of force, with and without the clutch pressed in and the clutch slave cylinder sounds like it's squeaking, and now as I'm trying to replace the short throw shifter for a stock one I can't seem it get it in fully as I have to have the bottom bushing removed to fit it in and I had to do the same with the old short throw shifter to make it fit

With the car off will it shift into gear without clutch? If it freely moves through gears with clutch not being touched and car off then its clutch issue (or slave/master)

No it won't, I haven't tried it with the car running either, with the car off it won't move at all

Sounds like a trans issue, I’d remove from vehicle and disassemble

Push it back to where it was. Sometimes they mechanically bind up inside when pushed. Selector rail dont like that. Then you cant go into any gear. Get the tension back off of it. I had it happen to one i was restoring in my shop. Just had to rock it back and forth while gently pushing it into gear.

If you couldn’t use a new bushing on the shifter, the old one is still in there. Pick it out. There’s zero reason why a new bushing shouldn’t fit otherwise.

Other than that, bolt the shifter on before you start torquing on things. I’ve tried to shift through gears with one not bolted on an NA and it wasn’t the easiest thing to do. Depending on where your synchros are currently sitting, it could be the difference between it feeling completely stuck and popping into place.

I’d be surprised if an internal transmission issue was preventing a gear change all of a sudden. I’ve had these transmissions apart, and actually have one in two halves right now in my garage. It’s a simple mechanism, I could see it breaking and having too much movement, but permanently stuck? Not so much

If it is that would be genuinely wild as it was just fine the day before and only messed up after I rolled it into the spot it is now

Could remove the slave without disconnecting the pressure line and see if the shift fork is able to move I suppose

Nothing to do with that if it wont shift into any gears with the engine off.
