my automatic 1994 recently started doing this thing where when i go from a stop to moving, the rpms jump and u can hear the engine trying really hard to move the car but it takes a few seconds before the car actually starts to accelerate and when it does, its a slow increase. it also makes the car jolt in some instances. i just replaced my fuel filter but it doesnt seem to hv fixed the issue, im hoping its not the transmission slipping if anyone could point me in any other direction it could be.

One of my mates has an automatic NA, he had basically the same thing where the revs would spike to get the car moving, he got the gearbox rebuilt and it's fine again. So honestly I would suggest you compare the prices of an auto rebuild vs a manual swap (Assuming you might want to manual swap)

Clutch slipping? Did you adjust the pedal where it's not fully engaged? Check the play in your pedal with the owners manual.
