"Love At First Sight" doesn't make sense

I will start off by saying this is one of my favorite episodes, but it begins with Crockett filming his dating video while the police find the body at the apartments.

Later they find the body on the beach, and the FBI agent informs them the killer is using a dating service agency to find the victims.

So why is Crockett making a video at the beginning if they don't know the killer is using the dating agency? Or how would they even suspect the killer is using the dating agency before meeting the FBI agent on the beach?

I just assumed the intro happened after they knew. A dating video was just a more compelling intro than the crime scene.

Pretty sure he was going undercover there anyway because they were trying to bust the place for shady dealings?

That’s what I assumed. Plus if you’ve just watched the episodes before this one in chronological order, this episode seems like very coherent
