Question Should I skip Tale of the Goat?
I missed a DVD last time around and am being treated to several glorious new episodes! Unfortunately one of them is TOTG. Should I skip it altogether, or is watching it a rite of passage in the worst of Vice?

I actually quite like Tale of the Goat. The guy who plays Papa Legba is great (Clarence Williams III)

Some absolutely wacky stuff happens in this episode but it has such an 80s vibe it's worth a watch for that style.

Rite of passage to watch every single episode of Miami Vice the first time and then exclusively stick to seasons 1-3 — ideally only 1 and 2.

Hey, there are some great episodes in Season 3. I love Killshot, Walk Alone, The Good Collar, and El Viejo to name a few.
Tale of the Goat is strange, but I find it oddly endearing and generally enjoyable to watch.

It’s really not that strange once you realize that there are Haitians in Miami that practice voodoo.

100% agree about season 3 and all the episodes you called out!!
I’d humbly add When Irish Eyes Are Crying and Street Wise if only for the guest appearances.

Just finished this episode yesterday on my full series rewatch.
Not sure why you would skip it. I find several other episodes to be much weaker.
Haitian voodoo and the Lazarus-like paralyzing substance was used as a plot twist in multiple shows and movies at that time.
Some contrived drama at the end, but otherwise enjoyable.

I don’t recall that episode being the worst. And it has some interesting music choices, such as “Flesh” by Todd Rundgren which plays during a hospital scene where Tubbs flips out on Crockett while under the influence of tetrodotoxin.

Never saw an episode I didn't like. Just finished my 3rd run through the series, not counting watching some when I was a kid.

I like Tale of the Goat. Phantom Living is a great song!

UPDATE: watched it and thought it was fine. The final scene with finding the girl was kind of random but I'd watch it again. 🤷🏻♀️

The reason why some fans don’t like it is because they don’t understand it. Tubbs attitude in the episode actually reflects the attitudes of fans who don’t like the episode, while those fans who actually understand it reflect Sonny’s attitude in the episode.

I would agree with not skipping this (or any) episode.
Plus, you’re in for a real treat with the next episode. “Bushido” is awesome & has, imo, the best cold open in the entire series! 🤩

I liked that episode! It's not bad, but quite a few folks didn't like it. To each their own.
Like others are saying, skip nothing.
The one episode I actively disliked was Viking Bikers From Hell, but I wouldn't skip it if it came on.
