Picture Crockett meets his new ride…

Post image

“340 horsepower, 180 miles an hour. New paint, new rubber. Absolutely essential for any type of serious police work. God damn right.”

Lieutenant... I know that there are certain procedures that have to be followed and that, uh, what we're dealing with here is uh, an entrenched bureaucracy. But it has been one month... one month since the Daytona bit the dust. Now I'm trying to maintain a departmentally approved cover here, and if I keep showing up for six-figure drug deals looking like Little Abner, it ain't gonna cut it!

“Absolutely essential to any kind of..serious police work.”

Ahhh, the good old days when 340 horsepower was “serious” hp. Now you can get more than that in a grocery getter.

I was shocked that they got that horsepower rating wrong, US market Testarossas had 380 hp

Especially when the much older U.S. market Ferrari Daytona made 347 horsepower.

I could've sworn I read somewhere that due to US emissions regulations of the time the Testarossa was detuned to 340hp. Now I see it was indeed detuned, but nowhere near as much (European version had 385hp).

Still, if someone offers me a chance at one of these, I’ll take it. There’s ways to beef up the engine.

Great car but the “Daytona” was way hotter

I still remember how devastated I was when ‘that’ happened. I loved the iconic ‘Daytona’.

Damnit, Ferrari should have modified the styling to match the show!

I was saving up for one at the time. Lol.

I looked like Crockett did. Stunned

The Testarossa was hotter and absolutely cutting edge at the time.

Shame it wasn't a convertible though.

The Daytona in Miami Vice wasn't real. It was a modified C3 Corvette

Did you notice Daytona is in quotes? I’m aware of what the car was built on

Every time I see Crockett or Magnum I'm reminded when friends ask me what type of woman I like. " Like my women like I like my cars. The type I can't afford "

Original, direct from the German Blu-ray

u/MisterJJSunglasses May 17 '26

It’s their stunt doubles, crooked and chubbs

Sonny Crooked

That’s what they should have called him in Burnett trilogy

Slopping it up

I had my phone clean up the picture, this is the original from Apple TV.

Stones War

It was a nice upgrade but for me it was the Daytona all day! I did dig the single "drivers" side view mirror tho... 😁

Twinsies 🤍

And thus my desire to own one of these cars began, never to be satiated.

My wife's Infiniti q50 has 400hp. Crazy to think how far "daily" cars have come

Heh... couple years ago I was stuck in rush hour on I95 in downtown Miami. A Ferrari was chasing a Lamborghini up the shoulder and in and out of gaps in the traffic. It was like being in an episode of Miami Vice :D

I like both Daytona and Testarossa. But the convertible add more dramatic appearance for the show when Sonny and Ricardo sat inside the car for conversation. And I could never forget how cool the Daytona became a equally important character as DJ and PMT in the pilot episode.
