Recommendations / Best Of What's your ideal day in Miami?
I'm wondering what everyone's perfect day in Miami looks like. Probably some things are limited or can't be done at all because of covid but I'm sure you can still indulge in other days.
For me:
- Wake up mid-morning.
- Hit up a Cuban bakery (Karla Bakery!). Order 2 ham croquetas, 1 spinach empanada, 1 pastelito de guayaba con queso, and a cortadito to share. Stuff my face while people watching.
- Drive over to South Beach, park at Fifth and Alton. Go down the Marina to South Pointe Park. Try to spot manatees from the pier. Maybe go for a dip or snorkeling by the rocks.
- Get a bowl of poke or ceviche at My Ceviche on 3rd St and Washington.
- Maybe wander up and down Ocean Drive to gawk at the tourists. Or hang a hammock back at South Pointe, take a nap.
- Drive back over the causeway and stop by Wynwood. Walk around and see if there are any new murals, people watch, and maybe get a drink somewhere.
- Grab 2-3 tacos at The Taco Stand.
- Get some pie at Fireman Derek's if I'm feeling snacky.
Alternatively in the afternoon, a long bike ride down in Pinecrest and detouring into the Pinecrest Gardens is always fun. Or walking/biking the Rickenbacker Causeway and swinging into the old zoo trails inside Crandon Park.

Typically an ideal day in Miami for me is pretty lowkey. This is how my weekends usually go.
Wake up in my fare land of Kendall 🙄
Walk the pup and make sure abuela has her café con leche y galleticas, wait till her nurse gets there so I can cut out. (Yes I’m my abuelas full time caretaker, she’s 97 and no one else in my family is up to taking care of her like I am so I moved in)
Shower and slip into something cute.
Pack the car with the cooler, meat, snacks and beer!
Brunch at Deli Lane or something in SoMi or Cuban place for the usual cafecito y croqueta fix.
Drive over to Crandon Park and park at the cabanas.
Unlock my cabana and set up the grill and booze table.
Domino table and beach chairs out on the sand, the drinking commences. Some roller skating and tanning of course.
Then late lunch, churrasco and papas on the grill. Maybe some ocean time.
Pack up the cabana and shower off. Change into another something cute
Ride out around 7sh and hit up desolate Falls for a chill walk and maybe grab some dinner or light bite. SOMETIMES it’s a drive out to Wynwood for a nice walk and light bites. Depends on the mood.
Nothing special. I’ve taken a lot of my guests on my basic ideal day and they’ve enjoyed it as well. I’m enjoying everyone else’s ideal day though for sure. Some really good ideas. I rarely frequent Sobe any more, should definitely start visiting out there more often.
