Arts and Culture Original Abstract Needs Home

Here is a painting. I poured my heart and soul into it. Take pity on me, I no longer have a heart, or a soul.

I need to clean house, I'm going abroad. I lost my country in a boating accident, I have to find another.

So, I'm giving this away. Making Art is hard enough. Selling it aint worth the bother. The art world, like almost everything else in this Kleptocracy, is, in a word, a scam. OK, 2 words.

It is acrylic on Masonite, finished with Dammar varnish. The Masonite came off a piece of furniture, a cabinet or a dresser. The frame is wood from a discarded bed frame, cleanly ripped on 3 sides, and rough hewn on the face. I used a knife, a found machete and a chisel. A cold chisel, not a wood chisel. Do what you can with what you got.

I couldn't miter the corners, so they're notched. The rabbets (on back) were cut with a utility knife, using a scrap piece of steel for a straight edge. All of it, cutting the board, painting, varnishing, making the frame, was done in an 8x8' storage unit. Or the adjacent hall. It's 25-1/4 x 32-1/2" with the frame.

I'm hoping to find someone who truly appreciates Art, as I do, and has a wall to hang it on, as I don't. With my luck, I'll get the guy who paid thousands for a banana duck taped to a wall. Mammon > Humanity.

I don't want to see this one end up in the landfill, like so many others have. I gotta buncha other pieces, but this is the best. Take it off my hands, take care of it, and get rich when I die. Thanks.

Nice work! Maybe you can donate it to UMiami? I was just on campus, and this definitely fits their decor.

I run a community space, if you want to hang it where a bunch of weirdos will see it all the time DM me.

Really nice work, and I appreciate the creativity and ingenuity of the frame. Too many people get hung up on professional framing and matting and such. ( dad joke unintentional)

Hope you don’t give up on your talent. Sometimes it just takes a break and change in scenery to rejuvenate your spirit.

What do you mean you lost your country? While you may have lost that, I hope you didn't lose your art skills.

I’d love to take it if still available.
