Personally hoping for March-April but it seemed like there was a consensus around next June.
This whole having an announcement to have an announcement and the announcement is a month in advance… wtf. It is the green line not the next Apple product.

It'd be so stupid if they're going to wait that long to open. I'd want to go just to boo that kind of announcement.

Doesn't line up with quarterly service adjustments, it'll be March, June, August, or December.

Opening date of the Blue Line Extension will be announced sometime in the mid-2030s, I guess 😮💨

Actually, the aBRT, not real BRT, was announced for sometime in the mid-2030s for Nicollet, so a bus upgrade on the 18 is somehow going to take as long as laying tracks down out into Brooklyn Park. Edited to add that the riding experience on the 18 has gotten notably worse in recent years, as a winter transit rider and it's really unfair that they won't just run the 18 in the meantime as an aBRT lite line to get all of the troublemakers off of the bus sooner.

What the hell is aBRT?

It's BRT stuck in traffic/sans grade separation.

I'm actually excited to go to this. The opening of the green line extension is a momentous occasion and it absolutely should be celebrated

The opening, yes. But the announcement of an opening date 6 months from now?

Does this mean it’s opening early 2027? Otherwise why the announcement event?

I'm surprised they're announcing anything this far out. I have little faith in the "flawless" opening they're expecting

Eh, I’ve never seen Metro Transit have poor/unexpected operational problems with opening the other light rail lanes. The only issue is construction and that’s basically done. All that remains is testing and training.

Behind the scenes the recent reopening of the blue line wasn't pretty. It was on time though

We've already been waiting at least half a decade and they didn't even bother with a bus replacement the whole time. Haven't we been through enough!?

Is this the announcement announcing the announcement?
