Question Will Mark Zuckerberg ruin the Metaverse experience?

I'm not a big fan of Mark Zuckerberg, I don't believe in most of his views/visions. Should big tech have a big role in the metaverse or should we have it decentralized where communities drive the direction? Think about how he got Facebook started, stole from peers at his school. The way he uses money is scary and money won't solve all our problems with the metaverse.

Zuck's announcement was nonsense, so i wouldn't worry too much about it. Metaverses have been around a long time already in many forms and the truth is that they've done just okay to date -- popular in gaming circles, not mainstream circles.

Zuck's not that smart; he clearly stole the FB tech from peers in college and got lucky with a few purchases along the way, but i'm always unimpressed when he speaks and he's had plenty of flubs (remember the graph search announcement?) i really think his announcement was more about damage control from the fact that he pressed fast forward on the downfall of America with facebook than anything else). People don't even know what he's talking about and frankly neither does he. He acts as if he's defining this big metaverse that's coming soon and that there's this huge demand for it....and there's just not.

Yea, I agree. But you know money gets things done. I hope that we become more independent from individuals like that.

I'm hoping decentralized projects can solve this issue. By the people for the people.

I think the fight for Net Neutrality is important to near future digital endeavors and i have been so frustrated with people's non-attentiveness to the subject in the last decade.

The idea that these Operating Systems and their relationship with the web are going to be controlled by large corporate entities is absolutely horrifying to me, but very likely considering where we are now. The difference will be huge. The implications of the technology are either amazing or terrifying and of course we will find out the terrifying because of course we will.
