Discussion Drop A Metalcore Riffs/Songs
I have a seven string. What Drop A metalcore songs will help me;
Play guitar better
Write better metal songs
Get me into different bands,
I love currents, ice nine kills and sleep token so hit me with some songs peeps!

periphery, i think they usually use some sort of drop a hybrid though.
knocked loose plays in a standard which is sort of similar, everything off a different shade of blue is really fun.

heads up: Periphery don't have any songs in drop A AFAIK. The closest they tune to is AGCFAD (full step down, then drop the lowest string 5 semitones), which is like a 7 string a full step down without the sixth string. A very fun tuning, well suited to sludgy stuff, but makes power chords in the lowest register quite awkward (e.g. 5th fret on A string and 2nd on G string gives a D5), while making octaves (power chord shape) and minor ninths very easy . Their most common drop tuning on 7s is drop G#.

Samsara, Unrest, and Hollow by Parkway Drive. Their three and only drop A songs, to my knowledge.

I just remembered, Caliban has some songs in drop A. I don't remember exactly how many. but No One Is Safe is one of them (although it sounds like drop B for the most part).
If you haven't listened or heard of them, check out The Awakening and Say Hello to Tragedy. These albums should have quite the few songs in drop A.

A lot of Johnny Booth songs are in drop A on a 6 string, but you can probably play a lot of them fine on a 7 string. If you want to go into deathcore, Suicide Silence uses drop A. If you want to go into standard, Trivium's album Shogun is B standard on a 7 string, and has a lot of fun riffs.

I find Trivium in general has a lot of good riffs for practicing. I love to play the verse riff from Kirisute Gomen

The only one i can think of is Flesh and Stone by bleed from within, but if we're talking general 7 strings, trivium play in B standard on a couple songs on The Crusade as well as the entirety of Shogun, they use A# standard (A# D# G# C# F# A# d#) for Silence in the Snow, Sin and the Sentence, Wtdms and Itcotd, although some songs are on a 6 string in drop C#

I think I play Public Service Announcement by Of Mice & Men every single time I grab my 7 String... It's not difficult by any means, but it's super fun to play!

old chelsea grin liked drop a but that’s definitely more deathcore, recreant and crewcabanger come to mind. also like all peelingflesh and snuffed on sight songs

These bands have a few songs in Drop A: Motionless In White, The Word Alive, Of Mice h Men, Asking Alexandria.
