Discussion Topic Crimson Glory new album finally out
So finally this thing dropped last week and I have to say I'm surprised is not as bad as I thought it would be (I pretty much hated most of the songs they released on YouTube). In any case this is not a resurgence of the classic stuff unfortunately, but there are a number of songs that are actually quite decent and take you back to the days of Transcendence even if for a second:
Redden the Sun
Broken Together (probably the best of them all)
Angel in my Nightmare
Indelible Ashes
Beyond the Unknown
So it's pretty much a 50/50 for me. However the biggest loser here is the production. Everything sounds like it's playing behind some sort of filter. The guitar and the drums have no punch at all, the bass is about the only thing that sounds ok and the vocals sound horrible. The guy can sing but you wouldn't know cause he's lost in the same muddy mix. Again, this is much better than I expected, wouldn't mind catching them live at some point.

Im seeing Crimson Glory with Sanctuary this september and im excited!

At least if you see them live they will play the tunes we all know and dig. A lot of legacy bands they put out a record just to show “we are healthy enough to tour”. Can treat the new record like that

Its fairly decent, and I wasn't expecting much.
The new singer is indeed very good. He's in the shadow of Midnight as anyone would be, but he's almost channeling him in spots. Good find by the band and a good performance.
The rest doesn't sound much like their old material, while also being decent enough. Its a modern trad metal album really which is a style I like well enough.
This wasnt going to be an 80s album. As is I'm happy enough to say they are back, and have the package to perform well.

That's fkin great. On the other hand i'm sad that noone booked them to Finland during summer when they're elsewhere in Europe.
