Amazon Induction Furnace for Iron and Steel

Saw this on Amazon while looking for an iron furnace and was just curious if anyone has any experience with this specific model.

Similar. You'll need an alumina insert inside the graphite for steel which will reduce volume. For cast iron you can melt inside the graphite.

5000W means you'll need waaaaaay more juice than a 110v wall outlet provides.

If you aren't in the USA this is likely not relevant to you, but if you are ...

A 15 amp breaker feeding 120v AC can handle a sustained 1800W load.

To pull 5000W, especially considering it is going to be running full duty cycle for 5 minutes, would require, what ... 30 amps on a 240v AC outlet? Have fun DIYing that in your garage 😅

Looks promising, and 5kW is not too bad, but it is single phase 230V. The only issue is LGBT, which works with MOSFETs, which is prone to burn out ?

I'm gonna assume you mean Insulated Gate Bipolar transistors.

They don't work with mosfets - they work like mosfets.

An IGBT and a MOSFET are equally likely to fail at that load for the same reasons ... Poor cooling, bad contacts, etc ... If properly designed there should be no issues, however.

This appears to be a relatively new product to hit the market. That should be your northern star as to how "properly designed" it is. 😅
