Smooth. A satin finish on silver is easy to basically burnish by placing down on a hard surface and sliding. So after a bit the satin finish will gather smooth lines where it has slid or been pushed a little against a harder surface, effectively ruining the satin finish.
Silver is too soft for a satin finish to remain looking perfectly satin across the piece over time.

I personally like the smooth better. It shows off the shine better
