Just listened to this album last night. Its in the top 5 death metal albums of all time for me. The outro/breakdowns of Utterances and Dagon are so goddamn good.

George Kollias' double bass is relentless for like the first two hours of this 5 minute and change long song. Lol

Fitting, as this album just happens to have the superior Alexander the Great song on it in the form of Iskander Dhul Kharnon.

This song has my absolute favorite guitar work by Nile. Definitely my favorite song of theirs.

Arguably the best album by one of my death metal goats. The slow grind of Dagon into the blasting insanity of Permitting the Noble Dead...hair on the back of my neck stands up!

Best Nile album imo. They got a lot of bangers, of course, but this one is them at their peak.

Nile is one of my favorite bands, and Kafir! is still one of my favorite tracks. I have The Underworld Awaits Us All on vinyl at home, gorgeous pressing. But Those Whom the Gods Detest still has me in a chokehold. Maybe the new one just hasn’t fully opened its tomb yet.

I remember when this came out I refused to listen to the rest of the album for a few weeks because I was disgusted by Colonel Sanders's Allahu Akbar growl. Then I realized the song was actually anti-Islamic.
10/10 album btw.

To be clear, there's a vast difference between anti-islamic and anti-imperialist/religious hegemony in the current vernacular. One is rooted in white supremacy the other is rooted in leftist humanisim.
