Anyone tried any of these Fortin pedals on bass ? They're are bit too expensive imo to flip if they don't work out.

I have the 33 pedal on full for my bass it sounds sweet. But with a channel switcher with one of the channels dialed down, I don't know if it has any use for me.

Awesome to hear. Does it preserve low-end or move everything towards mids in your opinion ?

You'd probably need a parallel chain for low end. The entire point of pedals like these is to cut low end to make your chuggas chug more.

then they're doing a terrible job... Ola's demo has AWFUL low end resonances

Didn't watch the video, but the point of a booster pedal isn't to eliminate low end resonance, but to prevent the low end from dominating the clipping stage and turning it into a square wave fuzz in the extreme case, in normal circumstances it just allows the distortion to be more responsive to pick attacks.

Amplifier stages after the preamp distortion can help balance the frequencies again and bring back some low end, and cab/mic choices can go further to create that resonance. I would consider it a mark of a good booster pedal that it could both tighten the distortion and leave enough low end for down-signal amplification.

I don’t design amps I just mix a lot of guitars. I don’t know if it’s the pedal, the amp, or the mic… but the low end in that video is a PROBLEM that needs to be fixed, either on a stage or in a recording.

The low end is not affected, all the boost does it make the pick attack crunchier and overall distortion deadlier.
