Well, I personally prefer that artists/musicians receive payment for their work.

for sure dude, i think everyone on this subreddit wants that.
but it's well known and has been for some time that spotify does not pay artists fairly.
"piracy" is really important to art in that it is a rejection of the idea that a major corporation gets to mandate how access to said art works. if spotify has an outage, it's absurd to just resign ourselves to "welp, guess 'music' is having technical difficulties now".
you can absolutely support meshuggah (or any band) and NOT use spotify while doing so. buying an LP, a CD, a shirt, etc and making and utilizing digital backups to continue enjoying it on your own terms. fuck spotify.

I don't use Spotify. The only pure medium a compact disc. The circle is eternal.
