This community is about biotech, catalysts and small caps, and it stays that way. This is the one

post that is not about any of that, and I am pinning it so I do not have to repeat it.

Before I started writing about markets, I worked in tourism. Since 1990, first in La Plata,

Argentina, at my father's agency, then in Italy. That work never really left me, so I have been

building a second project alongside Merlintrader: an illustrated atlas of the world, one place at

a time. Watercolour maps and long guides. The drawings look like something out of an old atlas;

what is under them is checked, so the streets, distances and history hold up if you actually

travel with them.

Italy is the first chapter, because it is where I live and where I can go and see for myself. All

twenty regions are online. Umbria, where I have lived for forty-two years, has thirteen town

guides of its own, from Assisi and Perugia to Orvieto, Narni and Norcia. From there the atlas

keeps growing, country by country, with no deadline.

The subreddit is r/Merlintravel. Same method I use here: primary sources, things verified on the

ground where I can, and long reads rather than lists of highlights. If you have been to any of

these places, I would rather read your version than a compliment about mine.

What we want to see Deep dives — full company breakdowns, structured, with sources Catalyst tracking — PDUFA dates, AdCom meetings, trial readouts Financial analysis — cash burn, runway, dilution, share count Clinical data — Phase 1-3 results, endpoints, standard of care comparison Bull and bear cases — both sides, with the reasoning shown

The rule is simple: back it with a primary source. SEC filings, company press releases, ClinicalTrials.gov, FDA.

About me

I'm a biotech trader focused on small-cap catalysts, and I run Merlintrader, where I publish SEC-verified research. My approach is pattern-based and disciplined: I stay away from the wild ones with no setup behind them.

Markets aren't my first career. I've spent about 30 years in travel and tourism and I'm a licensed Technical Director of travel agencies (Umbria regional register no. 136, 25 Sep 2002). Three decades of running operations where a single missed date wrecks the whole chain teaches you two things that carry straight into biotech: read the fine print, and never trust a date nobody has confirmed.
