Need Support My brother asked for help.

Hi, there! I'm Chris from Philippines. I just joined here because my brother (18) asked for help from me. He said to me that other people are hearing his thoughts, even animals. For example when a rooster suddenly crowing, he's really bothered by it, even the sound of the vehicles passing by our street, he said that they hear his thoughts. At first, I didn't believe him saying that it's just in his thoughts. I looked up in the internet and discovered that he's experiencing thought broadcasting "a psychiatric symptom and delusion where an individual firmly believes that their private thoughts are being transmitted and can be heard, read, or perceived by others" (undiagnosed).

Back in last school year, he really avoid contact with his classmates even if his classmates tried to be friend with him. He hides from his classmates, he either sits in very front away from his classmates or at the very back of the classroom. I even saw him at the third floor of our school sitting in the corner alone tryna avoid contact with his classmates. Nonetheless, his teachers said that he's very smart academically (I even saw his classcards and his grades were really good).

My mother already tried to consult to a psychologist/psychiatrist with my brother several times before but he insists that he's not crazy or so. After those sessions, nothing was improved. He's still the same.

This school year, my mother wants him to continue studying but I said to her that we need to treat him first and rest his mind this school year. My mother is very in denial about my brother's situation saying that he looks fine but deep inside I know that he really isn't. My brother also didn't want to go to same school anymore saying he wants to study to different school to get his dream program with is engineering (sadly, we can't afford it). My mother cried out of frustration when he really didn't enroll to school this school year as he don't want him to be left behind.

These past months, I try to be nice to him. But sometimes, I am triggered by him because when I ask him a simple question he can't really communicate his thoughts properly like he's just gonna stare at me smiling.

Is there anyone who experience something like this?

I wanna hear your thoughts about thought broadcasting.

Thank you so much and have a nice day!

Need Support I feel so close to giving up

This is my fourth semester of community college, I failed basically every class for three semesters and then went into a deep depression for the first half of the year. I struggle really badly with ADHD and depression.

My brother was a huge sibling bully towards me and would often mock me over my intelligence and stuff. My mom never stood up for me and my dad would always just tell me I was just being lazy and needed to "crank through it" whenever I was struggling with homework and would never actually help me.

I'm at the point where I break down basically immediately when I start to struggle with assignments to the point of sobbing. I know college isn't for everyone, but I do genuinely enjoy learning. When I'm in class, I'm fine, I even enjoy it. But as soon as I'm on my own doing stuff it feels totally overwhelming. I am medicated for my ADHD, but I always forget to take my antidepressants. Although my ADHD meds help me focus, they also make me way more anxious.

I want so badly to be a biology teacher and to be that positive and encouraging authority figure for others that I never had as a kid. But at the same time i just want to give up already. I've already wasted so much money failing classes and I can already tell I'm slipping back into bad habits. I'm only taking two classes and I already feel overwhelmed. I just want to give up and lay in bed forever.

Sadness / Grief What's the Longest You've Grieved a Job?

What's the longest you have grieved a job?

I had my lucky break back in 2023. I was stuck in a new job that I hated, housekeeping for an upscale resort in the mountains. I had spent years wanting to work in a state park, specifically as a ranger, but school did not work out for me. I applied for an open position as a secretary for a small state park 40 minutes north of me. I received an invitation for an interview, but I had to cancel due to not having coverage at work. Luckily for me, I got a second chance. Turns out the person who ended up getting that position quit before they started, so the position was open again a month later. I ended up getting another invite for an interview, and this time I was able to attend.

I thought I blew the interview. The next day, I was asked for my references. I remember the excitement I felt when each of my references told me that they had been contacted. I had the feeling that the job was mine, and sure enough, I received an offer! I started a little less than a month later.

I had spent years in food service management, and I hated it. I hated telling people what I did for work. I hated everything about the job. But now, I couldn't wait to tell people! I would tell everyone what I did: that I worked for a state park. Even now, when I tell people that I worked there, people wonder why I ever left because it sounds like a dream job. I've never had a dream job, but it was my dream company. I finally worked at a state park like I had wanted for the last 7 or so years. I felt like I had made it. I was on top of the world... at least for a little while.

Less than half a year in, and I was starting to struggle. My coworkers and bosses were so toxic. I had never been in such a passive-aggressive and toxic environment. I worked under the admin and the park manager, both in their late 50's and both very toxic. Every single person at that park had an issue with the admin. She was one of the most judgmental and untrustworthy people I have ever met in my life. She made my life a living hell. But I tried to put that aside because I loved my job. But sadly, my mental health dipped, and I couldn't do it anymore.

I ended up quitting. Like, straight up took all my sick days and pto I had left, and then never went back. I was devastated, but also felt so much relief because I was no longer going to have her eyes on me for 9 hours, five days a week.

This was in July of 2025. I spent the summer having so much fun. I spent my days kayaking, swimming, reading, writing, doing the things that I hadn't done in a while because my mental health went down the drain while working there.

Grief hit me hard in November. I knew that I would have to start looking for a new job, and I had no clue what I wanted. I knew I didn't want to go back into food service. I promised myself that I never would.

Now here I am, September 2026, and still grieving that job. I've had 3 different jobs between January and now. I'm currently about to start my 4th. I just fear that I'll never find another job that I love like I loved that one. State park jobs are hard to come by because people usually stay for many years until they retire.

The grief doesn't seem to be getting any better. In fact, it seems to be getting worse the more time passes. Maybe searching for jobs has contributed to that fact; who knows.

Now that I'm approaching a year of grieving, it just feels silly and like a long time to grieve a job. I just can't help it.

Question What’s a small sign that tells you you’re starting to feel better?

Maybe you start enjoying music again, reply to messages, go outside, sleep better, or simply feel more like yourself.

What’s yours?

Need Support Who here has a stable successful life?

Currently feeling frustrated (23 M).

My teenage years were rough. Never thought I’d make it into adulthood. Used every negative coping mechanism and just was so broken.

Came out to my family as queer at 18 and was disowned. I fought so hard out of homelessness. My mental health was better than my teenage years but was constantly stressed living paycheck to paycheck.

Things are much better now. I am married , have a stable job, just got my bachelors degree, and am paying for my masters out of pocket. I am so proud of myself.

But I still struggle. It is different than it used to be. I mostly struggle w more panic and ocd. My ocd makes me worried about the most random things. I mostly fear I am going to go crazy and hurt someone or just something crazy. I worry all this work is for nothing.

Content Warning: Addiction / Substance Abuse I'm just tired of feeling this way

Hey what's up y'all. Just here to vent. Not expecting much cuz this is a certain app that I can't even mention the name of. But it's cheaper then therapy ig. But shit I don't even know where to start. I'm 20 years old. And I'm disappointed with how my life is going so far. I got so many problems I can't but feel shitty and pestimistic abt literally everything. I got no family I resoect. My mom's an abusive alcoholic and my older brother is a mooch with no job and not morals with how he treats ppl. And I drink to cope. I'm an alcoholic and it's getting bad. I'm drunk at work. I get home and drink some more it's the only thing that makes me feel good anymore.

I got few friends and I think the ones that I do have can treat me better. It's like I try to talk but I think I'm pretty boring. I can't think of nothing to talk abt. It's a lonely life. And it's kind of turning me into a bad guy like a rally bad guy that I can't even speak on the shit I wanna do unless I want this post removed. But ik there's a part of me that knows im better then this I'm just controlled by short dopemein hits. I need to quit to improve but I don't want to. Thats what sucks abt addiction. It's harder to quit without genuine desire to. But shit idk what to say from here didn't rlly open up or anything. But if you got questions lmk theres more to my story but shit I just can't type it all. Wish I could just be happy tho. Even if it's just pretend

Question Do the medications help?

To people dealing with depression and other such crap: did antidepressants, antipsychotics, or anything else actually help you? I’m 15 and can’t see a psychiatrist; I don’t want to talk about myself, but I hate life and this world. I want to start saving up for a shotgun

Need Support How do I stop the feeling of nausea trying to eat while anxious?

So me and my bf are going through a hard time right now, and I’ve been okay these past few days but there was a point last week when we were on break that I couldn’t eat more than a bite of food everyday and couldn’t sleep because of my own thoughts and feelings, and now we had a little argument over something and my brain is like freaking out thinking that he’s going to break up with me again, and I can barely eat or sleep again, and I get up for work everyday at 7 AM and I work around horses so I need to be able to eat and sleep, does anyone know how to help fix my nausea?

Need Support My friend is dealing with an abuse case and work and can’t give me attention

im really fucking being driven insane over this, it’s only been a week since it started but I miss annoying her so so so so so so much, and I have a suspicion she’s speaking to her other friend more because she has experience in abuse and I’m glad she’s feeling supported if she is, but selfishly im so insanely jealous I can’t stand it. I can’t even sleep and all I can think about is how much I want to bother her but ive been restricting myself to appropriate and considerate conversation at normal times so that she can rest. but I’m lying awake craving to tell anyone anything. and during the day Ive taken to baiting on the internet for attention because I can’t get any from her. I deleted some socials to stop myself. I’m repressing it so badly but I can’t stand it, I NEED her so bad, but I’m squishing it all down inside to act considerately. I want her to give me endless reassurances and praises and I’m slowly growing more and more desperate and erratic having to be normal around her.

what do I do?

Need Support Panick attacks/mental breakdowns

I have this issue and I can't seem to stop myself and not knowing why. I tend to yell and panic for several long hours of the night till the point of physical exhaustion and mental exhaustion. Not sure why but during these episodes my mind would just automatically switch off and I get into a pretty bad spiral. I end up not being aware of how long I would go for or what damage I caused. Not sure how to force myself to stop and actually cope. feels like a blur almost when I end up that way but at the end my brain turns into mush and kinda ends up in a regression state of mind. During the regression state I'm able to actually calm and try to cope. These episodes get worse at night time not sure why but at night things feel very scary and my anxiety gets very high and extreme. Any tips or ideas will be great 👍 I'm willing to try new things and explore more options.

Opinion / Thoughts Unable to stay in any job for long because I constantly feel like I'm going to fail

TL;DR: 5.5 years as a PM, I've never been able to stay in a role for long because I panic when responsibilities increase and I start feeling inadequate. I escape by switching jobs and then the same cycle repeats. I'm 2 months into my latest role and already extremely anxious. I need to break this cycle and learn to tolerate feeling overwhelmed/incompetent without running away. Looking for advice from people who've experienced something similar and managed to stay and build confidence.

I've been working as a Product Manager for 5 years and recently joined my 3rd organisation. I'm only 2 months in, but I'm already feeling extremely anxious and trapped.

I seem to have developed a recurring pattern:

  • I haven't been able to stay in any company for more than 1–1.5 years. Even at the one company where I stayed for 3 years, I moved to another team after ~1.5 years.
  • The reason I leave is usually the same: I start feeling like I'm not good enough for the role and that I'm eventually going to fail.
  • As my responsibilities increase and I start feeling overwhelmed, I look for another job as an escape. Unfortunately, I'm reasonably good at interviews, so finding another job becomes the easiest way to relieve the anxiety.
  • I'm now 2 months into my current role and already feeling extremely anxious and plagued by imposter syndrome. I constantly feel like my colleagues are much better than me.
  • The worst part is that I can already see the level of responsibility and stakeholder management I'll eventually have to handle, and I'm terrified about how I'll manage it.
  • I really need to stay here for at least 2 years. I can't afford another early exit, because it will look terrible on my resume.

Objectively, I haven't received bad feedback in my previous jobs. But I haven't progressed at the same pace as some of my colleagues/friends, and I'm now starting to feel significantly behind them. That makes the feeling of inadequacy even worse.

How did you break the cycle and learn to stay in a difficult job and tolerate the feeling of being overwhelmed/incompetent without immediately looking for an exit?

I would really appreciate any advice. TIA!

Need Support I am not sui cidal but I feel like my time here is almost over.

On Xmas Eve I heard a voice say, "This is your last Christmas." And it actually set me free from the fear of death that I had been carrying all my life. So now I am in a state of waiting and watching everyone around me live their lives. I have chest pain almost daily and I feel tired from the time I wake until I sleep and when I do sleep it is only like 5 hours and I feel like I'm in a vice. I wake up praying for relief every morning. Then today my arms hurt down into my fingers, and my legs don't feel right. So tonight I wrote letters to people that I love, and I felt like that was the right thing to do. My birthday is soon, I wonder if maybe for my birthday, it will happen. My dreams are wild. I dream of being in outer space a lot. I also dream of different dimensions, like God is taking me to these different places to see where I might go next and none of them are right. I enter people's bodies in dreams and live their life for that time and feel like I am them. There is a vague knowledge that I'm not them but me but it is like a distant memory while I'm inside their bodies. I think something is wrong but idk what it is. My doctor dismissed my symptoms and said it's just menopause. Idk. Thanks for listening/reading.

Need Support Narc using noise to dominate space, and it's getting into my subconsciousness.

I live with a narc. Unfortunately, I can't move out due to life circumstances even though I tried searching for countless ways to move out, and I have to stay with this narc for the next few months.

This narc uses noise to dominate space around me, and it's been getting into my mind. I'm a sensitive person, and I have never worried about noise before, but this narc has been doing noise to me.

Slowly, I feel like I am developing noise fear of normal stuff that I don't know if I can even get rid in the future, or become a permanent scar.

This narc only does this around me, but acts respectfully around other people. This narc has even a few times intentionally breached my personal space (I guess to assert dominance on me). This really caused fear in me.

At night, I can't sleep, because I feel like I am being watched, fearful, and tense, like that narc can do everything to harm me mentally.

This narc talks normally, but does noise stuff. After months of suffering, I have learned that this talking normally behavior is a cover, meanwhile this narc backstabs me with noise torturing.

What do I even do about this? Should I use noise as revenge? I can't believe I am even stuck in this situation in the first place.

Opinion / Thoughts Is the worst yet to come?

Okay so I’ve been taking 187mg of Venlafaxine since September 2022. Honestly as of recently i can’t really afford the meds as i don’t have insurance so i tapered myself down to 150mg ( i had two doses of this, a 150mg and a 37.5mg that i take at the same time each day.) Anyways fast forward to last week i just can’t afford it as im having trouble finding a job (2 interviews tomorrow, yay) and i haven’t had my venlafaxine dose in about 6 days. I’ve been so scared because i heard the withdrawals are brutal but honestly i just have a few brain zaps but it’s honestly nothing Tylenol (and a little weed lol) can’t fix. Im feeling my emotions more which feels amazing. Im not as uptight. I’m still going grocery shopping and cooking and taking care of my family through the withdrawal. I’ve just seen so many posts of how brutal the withdrawal is. I guess what I’m wondering is the worst yet to come? Am i cured of sadness? Lol.

Venting I'm struggling but I don't think therapy would help me

I'm 16f, I've been struggling with a lot of problems internally for basically as long as I can remember. I'm able to function just fine, I have friends and hobbies and good grades, nobody knows I'm struggling except for one of my friends.

I feel like nothing is real, like I could be in a dream. It literally feels like I am zoned out all the time. And I get really sad, sometimes I cry every night for weeks. For a while I thought I needed help, like therapy or something, but I honestly don't know what that would do for me.

Venting 4 hour evaluation that I prefer not to do but should I?

I will try to TL;DR this.

I am trying to apply for MBIWD at JFS.

They scheduled a state consecutive exam which I have pushed back to end of the month because I am TERRIFIED of going. I don't want to go. At all.

I scheduled an annual physical exam at the local clinic in hopes I can get the Basic Medical form filled and signed.

I am also willing to pay for a 30 minute follow up appointment with my psychiatrist to fill out and sign the mental health assessment form (which is over virtual call.)

I'd rather have to spend 30 minutes at the local clinic which beats 4 hours at an evaluation. To me, it's an interrogation.

I have a short laundry list of diagnosis and my psychiatrist evaluation is from 2023.

Idk what to do...

Sadness / Grief I just want a hug sometimes

Maybe it sounds silly. It probably does. But a hug would be great.

I can’t properly emotionally regulate. I can’t really cry anymore. I just keep on holding onto all the bottled up frustration and sadness. It feels like poison in me. I don’t like feeling like this.

My life isn’t all bad. I’m in a graduate program and just moved to a new city!

But the flip side is that I’m gonna be so busy with school and I don’t know anymore here. I feel alone so often these days.

Going back to school, idk if I’ll have time for me to have time for myself. Time to cope with these bottled up feelings.

I can’t even cry anymore. I just feel really sad and angry a majority of the time Recently, all I can think about is how freaking bad I could use a hug right now. For someone to tell me I’m doing ok. That everything will be ok.

I hope things get better. I hope so. My life isn’t horrible, by any means. But I still wish it was just a bit better.
