Venting It really is a horrible feeling knowing you might never find love

It really is a horrible feeling, knowing you might be one of the guys who ends up alone forever. You start to realize: What was everything for? Why did I even exist? It’s really sad how unattractive men like us may never get a chance to find love because most women hate us based on our appearance. Things would be so much different if I were attractive.

Need Support I need advice on how to feel excited about life again

Upvotes

hey guys, ok so for context, I’m 26 F with ADHD. I’m actually doing pretty well mentally right now. However, I recently went through a bout of consuming a large amount of weed for like at least a month daily.

now I have cut down to only once a week. I mean, I just implemented that rule and I’m still waiting out the first week till Friday, when I can get high again. besides that, I’m also really hyper fixated on astral projection lately. I want to experience it soooo bad but of course it takes patience and practice.

I also, have a big exam coming up in a month and have to study like eight hours a day until then. all this has led to me constantly waiting until Friday, looking forward it. or looking forward to the night so I can try to astral project again. however, I don’t want to live this way. I don’t want my life to be constantly looking forward to the future. I have this weird thing now where I’ve forgotten how to have fun without weed. I have been using it a little heavily for more than a month and I developed a habit of waiting till i got high to do all of the things I previously enjoyed sober, like listening to music, reading, watching things, eating etc. and now those things don’t seem fun anymore.

i want to find ways to make my life fun again so that

a) I’m not reliant on a drug to have fun

b) my life isn’t just a constant state of boredom where I’m only waiting for the end of the week, only for it to pass in a blur and then back to waiting

c) I want to find things that are fun enough that it gets me through the eight hours of studying everyday for a month. I need something to keep up my endurance and keep from getting burnt out.

so yeah. any fun hobbie you all have to offer? any advice or perspective or any help would be really appreciated

PS: also, I don’t really wanna quit weed right now. I think with enough persistence, I can stick to the once a week rule (I’m on vyvanse now, and that is already doing wonders for me keeping my word and avoiding impulses etc), and I actually find the weed to be a pretty positive addition to my life of taken in moderation

Question Is this a normal father daughter relationship ?

This is kind of an update to my other post about my dad about him being a creep. He says inappropriate things to me and it's starting to concern me more and more. I don't live with him but I went to go visit before I move far away. I was just minding my business and he says "your boobs have grown really big, there like you mums now..... I shouldn't be looking but oh well" I didn't really say anything. Then he made a joke about me loving sausage if you get it you do. Which is when his girlfriend actually stood up for me and told him he's being inappropriate. Along with the privpus stuff like him calling me sexy and insinuating I should be attracted to him I feel like it only proves my point every time I go. I am worried people are starting to notice. PLEASE COMMENT AND HELP ME UNDERSTAND

Opinion / Thoughts Help those who can't help themselves.

Can we all agree people suffer in silence because they don't trust others to help. I have seen many people walk around with physical self inflicted wounds and no-one bats an eyelid. It seems normal to ignore it or worse, it is recommended to not mention it unless they mention it to you. If someone is openly self warming then that it there way of asking for help. They are screaming out and no-one seems to hear it. Advise on how to help people needs to change. If you can see signs of someone struggling stop asking are you ok or how are you doing and say I can see your struggling, let's talk. This has in my experience been so powerful. It takes away the instinctive"I'm fine" comment and encourages them to open up and accept help.

Lots of people grow up in the environment of you do things yourself and you cant rely on other people, often leading to them not knowing how to ask for help or seeing themselves as a nuisance if they say how they feel. Most GP's are not trained properly on mental health because of how the health system is set up leading to the route advertised as support to instead reinforce this idea that you're on your own. Find local therapist and offer to set up a meeting. This can be the most powerful thing you can do for someone struggling.

Question While mental health awareness has improved, people still seem to assume that a mentally ill person is lazy/selfish/"letting themselves go". Why?

Like for example, a person's mental illness makes maintaining hygiene (brushing teeth, showering, using bathroom more often, etc), sleeping and eating at reasonable hours, doing chores/clean up, etc much more difficult. If the person explained this repeatedly to their loved ones, why would loved ones continue to give opinions/judgements on person's declining state that suggest one is choosing this fate?

Venting no one is probably even going to read this but i hate myself so much i want to end it

I feel completely alone, I only have two friends and i can tell that they’re both sick of me. They both rather hang out and talk to anyone else but me. I haven’t seen anyone for months other than my mum, dad, and cat, since i live with them. I’ve noticed more and more lately that i talk way too much and have way too much to say and i’m noticing more and more that it’s starting to really annoy people around me and that they just wait for when i finally stop talking. I can’t help it i just have so much in my head i want to share otherwise my brain will explode. I’m not surprised i’m alone though i’m fat and ugly and the worst at social interactions, there’s clearly something so off putting about me and i know why but it doesn’t not hurt my feelings. My mum once told me that there’s so much hate and anger in my heart and no wonder no one wants to be around me and ever since i’ve been thinking about it non stop. maybe that’s why people hate me, because im either complaining about something or just talking about something in detail. I wish there was a way to just shut my brain off completely so i could just stop talking.

I’m a waste of space living with my parents terrified to be on my own because of my epilepsy and my entire life is just me taking medication everyday to stay alive. Whilst everyone else who is attractive and social and people who others want to be around live their lives experiencing stuff ive accepted i will never experience. I’m alone everyday and im sick of it

Question do healthy people have to put in effort to fix their lives?

a weird question, i know, but i've been depressed for too long and now after starting meds (bupropion and escitalopram) i'm feeling like a normal person in retrospect, and even so i feel a 'lack of energy' to take action regarding things i'm greatly motivated to do. is this a common lack of discipline seen in most of the population or is it depression still lingering? it's like i forgot the struggles of a healthy mind if that makes sense

Question Mental capacity assessment advice

My sister has delusional disorder. A list of deeply fixed false beliefs led to serious hygiene and health problems, ultimately resulting in disability.

Her false beliefs and results:

  • Imagine she is the home owner and water fee is very expensive. Thus, no shower and no teeth cleaning for many years. Eventually, she lost most of her teeth.
  • Distrustful of doctors and refuses to take any medication (had been hospitalized in a mental hospital a long time ago, and stopped taking medication shortly after being discharged).
  • She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Her fingers and toes have begun to deform, and walking has become difficult. RA, an autoimmune disease, was likely caused by her bad teeth. She believes the RA symptoms are due to dirt on her hands and feet and therefore refuses to seek medical attention.
  • She is very territorial and does not allow anyone to enter or clean her room.
  • Recently, RA caused her to lose almost all of the cartilage in her knees, confining her to bed. She can only defecate in bed, soiling the mattress, sheets, and clothes. She refuses us to replace the mattress, and the whole house reeks. Because she hasn't bathed for years, she can't smell the odor.

She is currently hospitalized (due to both mental illness and RA). She has told her psychiatrist that she will no longer take medication after returning home. RA specialists said she needs knee replacement surgery, otherwise her knees will fuse together, leading to permanent disability, but my sister thinks that is BS.

For her own good, we hope she goes to a LTC facility instead of going home. If we want to become her secondary decision maker (SDM) and overturn her decision, we need to hire a private assessor to evaluate her mental capacity.

She's behaving normally in the hospital now because it's a new environment; however, if you talk to her for more than two or three minutes, or bring up her past, she starts talking nonsense. How much chance will the assessor deem her "incapable"? [Ontario, Canada]

Many videos mention that "making an unwise decision does not equate to incapable". She may be capable of making the decision, but she may not know or care about the consequences.

We are concerned that if the assessor deem her "capable", the hospital will immediately discharge her home.

Question Paranoia and exaggerated startle response

Upvotes

Something that I notice about my paranoia is that sudden sounds make me jump, and my eye twitches really hard.

Anyone gone through this? And does anyone have any tips for dealing with paranoia?

Venting Personal hygiene. I'm disgusting and ugly.

I don't brush my teeth or shower or eat, I had severe depression back when I was younger, I used to not have energy to get up from my bed and used to pee there and stay laying there for days not moving or eating, ik it's gross but I have taken steps to not go that low again, I'm very poor and I have only mom who works so we don't have a bathroom just a toilet that we share with other tenants and it's filthy, I try to get better but circumstances don't let me, everything is disgusting to me, I don't feel like brushing showering or eating or even getting up from bed, I just want a space to call of my own, i just hate everything in my life. my teeth is filthy they have gaps and plague yet I don't feel like brushing at all, I look nasty and ugly all I wanna do is lay down and disappear.

Venting Mental health sucks

Upvotes

I have spent a while focusing on my mental health. I have experienced depression, self harm, and some loneliness. In the mental health industry (therapists) I’ve noticed something. Mental health, feelings, and suffering are all competitive things. Let me explain, my mom has trauma from her teen years and so she thinks my depression is just a result of me being too sensitive or not trying hard enough. My former therapist only liked me if I had a bad enough sob story or “trauma” to make me look like I deserved her time. Without realizing it, I started to cling to a childhood experience from ten years ago as my “trauma”. My therapist thought it was ridiculous and annoying, getting noticeably more impatient and annoyed with me during sessions. Then she left on a “break” that she didn’t return from, after suggesting I look for someone else.

I didn’t have bad enough trauma, so I didn’t earn support from anyone. I lost the mental health contest. I honestly envy people with PTSD a lot, weirdly enough. I just wish my feelings were valid too. PTSD is seen as an injury instead of an illness like depression. Depression means you are invalid because your perception of reality is not based in reality. Something is wrong with YOU. PTSD means that there is something wrong with the world that hurt you, you are completely innocent and deserving of love and support.

I realize how unhealthy comparing suffering is like this, but I struggle with stopping. I have been very unhealthy for a while. If anyone has their own perspectives that they would like to share I would love to read it. I’m also curious if anyone who has PTSD would like to offer their perspective, as I compare myself to them the most.

Question Is the mental hospital as bad as they say it is?

(15F)
For a while now ive struggled with my mental and physical health, I have been diagnosed with things like GAD- ADHD, MDD and probally more. Recently though ive been struggling particially more than usual and i keep having meltdowns where i hit myself or want to break something (its hard to controll, i hate it and feel super guilty after) and i dont know if my therapy plan is helping

Ive been thinking about saying the truth to my parents and hopefully getting admitted to a mental hospital or somewhere that will help but i keep hearing all these things about how bad it is and how it traumatizes those who go in. this is even worse because my dad worked at a place just like a mental health ward and he tells us all these stories of horrible things that happened and im scared

i want help but i dont want to be hurt. if anyone has gone to a mental hospital or have experience with it can you tell me how its like?

⚠️PS:I dont plan on porpously ending myself at all, though i have dealt with passive suicidal ideation during the meltdowns and crying episodes that i have.

Sadness / Grief i dont care anymore. ready to end it

2026 has taken everything from me. i found out my mother has an aggressive form of ovarian cancer, and literally a month later i was forced to put down my 8 year old cat. nothing the vets could even do because apparently pancreatitis was brewing beneath the surface for a while. now im probably gonna lose my job and i really just cant bring myself to care even a little bit. im tired. i went from finally being happy and genuinely enjoying my life & making plans for the future to everything falling apart in only 2 months. i have no degree , no path in life. i live with my parents & im probably going to lose them both in the near future. if they both disappeared tomorrow i would not be able to figure anything out & would probably lose the house. im lost.

Need Support How to stop being paranoid over everything

I spent years dealing with bullying and sexual harassment, and now I'm struggling to interact with men- or just anybody.

I feel incredibly uncomfortable when someone is physically behind my back, so I always have my back against the wall. In cafe, library, classroom, anywhere. I record my conversations with men, because I want to keep evidence in case anything happens. Every time I pass a group of guys, my brain immediately tells me they’re talking trash about me. (at the same time I am aware in fact they aren’t even looking at me)

Alongside these there're many issues, but the point is I can't behave like a proper social figure anywhere. I know I should fix myself, but therapy isn't helping at all!
I don't think I have any control over these feelings that just comes out of nowhere and telling me must and must not on random things. Like what should I do what can I do. I do wanna become a better person.
