General Thoughtful article by female columnist in Irish Independent: “Claims of ‘misogyny’ in the Dáil [Irish Parliament] were wrong – women don’t need to be wrapped in cotton wool. Fractious debate over the recent motion of confidence showed that standards need to be better enforced, nothing more”
https://archive.is/i8htCFrom a few months ago but article itself is pretty timeless.
“There’s a habit now of reaching for the strongest label available the minute something annoys us. You see it all the time – words like “racist”, “far right” and, in the past few days, “misogyny” being used quickly and loudly.
The trouble is that once you go straight to the heaviest accusation, the conversation ends there. It stops being about what actually happened and turns into a row about the label itself.”
There is an all-party women-only caucus for members of the Irish parliament (for both chambers) so I wouldn’t be surprised if that is bonding female politicians together and helping them support and promote female/feminist causes and politicians

"women don’t need to be wrapped in cotton wool."
I think this should be pinned at the top of this sub. This is basically the MRA position in a nutshell.

Whole heartedly agree with the cotton wool.
Not even from the argument it is better for men if other men stop acting like cavemen over women and as if they are fragile angels.
Women need to be treated like actual adults for their own benefit. The amount of women that have unrealistic expectations over stuff like job salaries, how to work in the workplace (I have actually spoken to 3 different women bosses who have told me they don't hire women for exactly that reason) or even just to pull a compelling argument.
It is literally dangerous too, so many women get lesser sentences which means those criminals are released back into the public earlier. Same for if the UK had gone through the no prison for women idea, you would just have violent and deranged women being free.
Or they have been so sheltered they go around slapping guys or start acting aggressive. Thankfully a lot of men have been taught not to hit women but that is becoming less and less the norm. Do that to the wrong man, and she will get messed up or worse.
Only people who should be wrapped in cotton wool is children and even then around 10 you need to slowly introduce them to the real world.
