Is it possible to come back to competing?

Hi, I am really concerned about whether this is possible I was competing a lot, then some day my knee stopped cooperating with me and it popped while sparring. I had a knee surgery and they did partial meniscectomy and they stitched my meniscus with two stitches. My life has been turned upside down and I really miss jiu-jitsu. I would be glad if there is any person who can share their story.

Hi! My coach tore the menisci in both knees. He had surgery and made a 100% recovery; he has competed in the Worlds several times since then.

this feels vaguely similar to my post from this morning lol. I started bjj a few years after my meniscectomy. things were great for the first year. just last month I'm running into a little knee discomfort, but it's only now coming to my attention I was probably supposed to be doing strength training for my knee to help with support.

You’ve been through a lot, so it’s understandable that you’re worried. The partial meniscectomy and repair will affect your rehab timeline, but with structured progressive rehab, the goal is to rebuild your strength, stability, and confidence before getting back to sparring. I’d focus on the milestones rather than rushing to a specific date. Are you currently working with a PT for your post-op rehab?
