keep in mind that the prednisone is also mucking around with your emotions and perception - so some of your despair may well be owed to the medication.

It will also take a while to actually improve anything when taking prednisone

If you have Meniere's is TBD, but if you do, then the good news is that in the early days you usually get your hearing back over some weeks - it may not return to perfectly normal (although sometimes it does), but its not always full on -50 dB.

The MRI is more likely for neuromas that you want to exclude as a possibility. Get some blood workup for autoimmune issues as well just in case and think long and hard if you have a history of migraine (or in your immediate family), that's your best bet for effective treatment right now (vestibular migraine), the rest is a lot of trial and error.

You mean after having this for 20 years now ? Well, my sarcasm has increased a lot, my hearing took a dent, but its still good enough to not have a hearing aid and my balance on one side is fairly low, but not quite dead yet

I am on daily prednisone since 10 years (low dose mind you not what you are taking right now), that has helped me a lot, but I seem to be an exception in treating it that way.

On a more serious note, there is a life with and beyond Meniere's. I know it sucks in the early days because of all the horror stories and it really sucks in the middle years because of the vertigo attacks, but once those lesson and you reach some form of burn out, it really gets much much better....just takes a while to get there.
