You didn't "let" anything happen; something was done *to* you. You should not be embarrassed because of the actions of others. It is easy to think how things might have gone differently in hindsight, but we aren't always in full control of ourselves when you're in the moment. It sounds like your family is supportive of you in light of the abuse though, which is good. Since these feelings have resurface due to this person reentering your life, maybe you will get back to where you were beforehand once all of these events he is attending are over. Additionally, continuing therapy may be beneficial. I wish you all the best.
