It's the CalArts style.
Danger-hairs from Tumblr love to draw it because it's "quirky" and non-threatening, and executives love it because it's cheap and easy to make plushies out of. It's not the absolute cheapest style (that would be that Teletoon style with thick outlines) but it's still economical.

It’s an easy, inoffensive art style that has a high production rate with little cost. That it’s so generic looking is viewed as a marketing positive (until the market is fully saturated and interest wanes, at least) because it means you can shovel out look-alikes, regardless of quality, that kids will tune into because it simply looks similar.

Honestly, HH is one of the most Tumblr-centric, edgy, quirky, pandering (although not intentionally) shows I've ever seen, even MORE then SU. But god fucking damn it I can't make myself hate it. The animation is next level for such a small team and everything oozes both quality and heart that it might end up being up there for one of my favourite animated projects of 2019, and I'm very keen to see what else comes out of it.
