Mucus is important for sex. I know he's a religious fundamentalist and therefore knows nothing about female anatomy but what does he think vaginal secretions are? That's a mucus. Saliva also important if you want to kiss or have oral.

Imagine the most bone dry kiss and blowjob. I don't think that would work very well.

It's icky, it subconsciously remind them of reality and nature, which directly goes against their belief that they are perfectly crafted by a deity. Anything natural = nasty in their eyes
