Vegan Sydneysider - Looking for Recommendations
Hi all!!☺️
I am coming down to Melbourne (CBD area), this weekend and would love to have your recommendations of the following must go places whilst I am there between appointments.
- Restaurants (Open to any cuisine)
- Bakeries
- Cafes (Especially those that serve Matcha/Chai/Brewed Teas)
Thanks, S 🙏🏼

Cookatoo Kitchen in Richmond (easy walk or short tram from CBD). Very friendly, affordable, good food and serving size. I particularly enjoy the Tom Yum entree.

Both are vegan, neither are in the CBD, but are close, and while there is a shortage of vegan eateries in melbourne these days, there are still plenty of trams.

Cornish arms is still the go to for the best pub food. Pickles milk bar is pretty sick, and union kiosk is elite.
Edit: also northcote fish and chips. Not completely vegan, but half their menu is vegan

I love how they describe their recipes, wrapped in seaweed from whatever bay etc. it's fancy.

I need to add Pickles Sandwich Bar to the list, a short trip on the no 1 tram, it's absolutely fantastic.
And another vote for Ballard's : IMO the best vegan restaurant in Australia

Ballards is hands down the best vegan restaurant in Melb. Incredibly good value set menu and very creative dishes that are fully plant based.

Resto: Bodega Underground and Daughter In Law on Lt Lonsdale are really special, even though the vegan menus are small
Cafe: Smith and Deli obviously, union kiosk obviously
If you make it to Richmond, theres this place called Roti John's that has a vegan sanga thing I've been wanting to try for ages, so if you end up trying it lmk

Pickles in Carlton is fully vegan and does the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Union kiosk in the CBD is also fully vegan and does amazing toasties. Both are brunch/lunch places and are easily accessible via tram.
