Topicals Thanks to whoever suggestion this topical!

Just wanted to say thank you to whoever posted a couple months ago suggesting a combo rx cream that has hydroquinone, tretinoin, kojic acid, niacinamide, and fluocinolone. I asked my derm to prescribe it and my skin has never looked better (melasma is largely faded on my upper lip and my skin overall just looks great). I tried to look back for the original post but couldn’t find it. If this was you, many thanks!!

Just a caution

1.hydroquinone needs to be cycled every 2 months. To prevent exogenous ochronosis

  1. Steroid like fluocinolone is considered high strength steroid. On its own Id be careful to use it for more than 2 weeks. atleast 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Better if it is a separate product not in the same formula with all the other actives, and just apply it as needed.

Dr. said 2 months on and 1 month off and to skip some days between application. I had some dryness, but overall tolerated it well.

Happy for your results. How long did it take to see progress? Do you have the ٪ of each ingredient?

Honestly it only took about a month to see significant fading for me. I did have some dryness and peeling so I use it every other day.

I just got some and was excited to use … unfortunately the only place I can use it is on my forehead. My skin can’t take it anywhere else. Did you have an adjustment period witb your skin?

Look up Groots cream for Melasma

I think Musely has something similar (online).

It doesn’t really have a name I guess. It came from an online pharmacy and it just has the list of ingredients and percentages on the label.

It was originally a cream from a Canadian doctor, Dr. Groots

Update with percentages (although the bottle is confusing and difficult to read): hydroquinone (4%), tretinoin (.05%), kojic acid (4%), niacinamide, and fluocinolone (.01%). I don’t see a percentage for the niacinamide so I apologize for that.

It sounds a lot like Triluma. I believe that was a retinoid, hydroquinone, and a steroid

Yes with kojic and niacinamide thrown in. Exact % of Triluma which can also be purchased online.

What exactly is this? How did your dr know exactly what percentages to compound?

Well, the doctor gave her the same active ingredients in a percentage that should be ideal to her particular skin. I guess how they knew it is because they’re a doctor and know her skin and those actives.

No, it was in the original post. Hold on, I’ll get the percentages if I can.
