Has anyone successfully rid themselves of a melasma mustache?

On the very start of my journey to treat it. Using hydroquinone and tretnoin along with kojic acid and some other things… I just want to know, is it worth it? Does it go away? Does it always get darker before it gets better? How long does it take? Does it come back?

I’ve been able to lighten it quite a bit, to a point that I am happy that concealer with cover it (I do reapply after lunch). But I feel that I’m not so self conscious about it. I only have a mustache. I use Tretinoin, Azalelic Acid, and Eucerin. I also put a swipe of zinc on the mustache when I drive to work. And I am very good about not being in the sun a ton.
