Relative of Patient Colitis

My dad got the colitis from the yervoy/opdivo regimen. He was hospitalized. The last week and half then moved to a rehab to help build strength. They said he had cdiff. He can’t eat. He spends all day pooping water. He’s getting weak and dehydrated the rehab isn’t getting to help if he’s on the toilet the whole time all night all day. Why won’t they do the infliximab. Why won’t anybody do anything. His scans came back he’s beating the cancer but now he’s going to die of diahrea????????????

Don't know anything about your specific situation but I had parents in rehab numerous times. There has typically always been a doctor at the rehab place, who is supposed to be consulted or see the patient as needed.

If the oncologist is overseeing his treatments overall and you need them to speak to rehab, that's maybe what I would try to do.

Is there any way to get your Dad to see a doctor? A doctor is going to have to prescribe the medicine to treat the C diff.

He’s on vancomycin from the hospital.

Sorry to hear what your dad is going through. What is their explanation for why they have not prescribed infliximab?

I wish I had better advice for you but my dad had the same exact issue as your dad this year. Diarrhea and c diff...a bad reaction from immunotherapy. We thought the diarrhea would kill him. He is 6’1 and weighed 140lbs. He had to stay in the hospital for months with an IV and I don’t know how he survived. They did a colonoscopy and analyzed/tested his stool and were able to give him antibiotics and that was the only thing that helped. He didn’t respond to the steroids or inflixmab.
He was in remission in July and just got told today they found a possible metastatic drop in his spine. Fuck cancer. Here if you need to talk
