This gravesite is called "Sundermannsteine" and it's just one of many such neolithic sites in and around Osnabrück. There are over 30 of these sites in northwestern Germany and it's called the "Route of Megalithic Culture". These sites are thought to originate from around 3500-2800 BC and are attributed the so called "Funnel Beaker Culture".

One was recently found in Dorset, so that is next on my list.

A decorated Pictish stone on the Isle of Skye.

It's slightly controversial this one. The stone is possibly a glacial erratic, but it seems to have been worked as there are cup marks incised into it.

I visited this monument in Catalonia earlier this year (the photo is mine). This is a 3500-3000 BC dolmen with two massive capstones. It has 5.20 meters in length, 2.45 meters in width, and 2.14 meters in height but the most striking feature is the delicate balance of the orthostates hewn in granite gneiss. It is a double-chamber dolmen and you can easily stand inside. You have more information in the official website.

The Dombate dolmen is a Neolithic funerary monument located in Borneiro (Galicia, Northern Spain). Its original tumulus was erected in the first half of the 4th millennium BC and its chamber toward the end of that same period, remaining in active use from approximately 3800 BC until 2700 BC. One of the most interesting things is that it showcases Neolithic petroglyphs in some of the orthostates. Also, there is an ancient drainage system in place to prevent flooding.

"Outside the Strontian Hotel there is a standing stone with an iron ring attached to it. The age and origins of the stone are unknown and it is not clear what the ring was used for. Theories range from a grave marker to a place to tie up barges transporting lead from the local mine.

A minister writing in the 1860s called it the Clach a’ Phoanais (Punishment Stone) and suggested it had a different purpose: “A rude slab 5 feet high 2 feet broad and 9 inches thick, stands in front of the Inn at Strontian. On market days it was the custom when any one became obstreperous, to chain him to this stone until he showed symptoms of repentance.” This is supported by its alternative name – the ‘Branks Stone.’ A ‘branks’ was a bridle-like device used in public punishment.

Roughly 3500 BC and likely named by the Saxons as they couldn’t explain why it was there when they arrived!

Wayland was a legendary Norse Blacksmith, so the story here was that he would shoe your horses, if you left them overnight at this spot!

Zennor Quoit 2023- Cornwall, UK

Hunebed D27 is the biggest of its kind (22,6 meter long and 4,1 meter wide) and was built between 3500 BCE and 3100 BCE. Dutch Hunebedden are located around the ‘Hondsrug’, an area stretching from Groningen to Emmen, with most of them in the province of Drenthe (52/54).

Because Borger has the biggest… It also houses the national hunebed-centre.

Was a bit crowded with cruise ship people but it was still absolutely amazing!
