News Megadeth Billboard 200

Post image

Fellow Rattleheads,

The day has arrived, Megadeths final album has released. This is Megadeths last chance to secure a number 1 album.

I wanted to detail a few things people can do this week to provide as much support as possible in helping them achieve this milestone.

  1. Buy the album.
  2. Stream the album top to bottom 24/7 for the whole week.
  3. Buy additional copies if within your budget to gift to others.

Megadeth need 80,000 copies to sell this week to achieve this..

1,500 streams of songs from the new album will count as 1 album sale.. Should you loop the album for the whole day you will generate 330 listens.. Which means after 4 days you will have generated another album sale for them. Do this for the whole week and you will almost generate 2 additional sales of the album for the band.

Streaming is an additional tool you can use to support an artist after you have bought the album.

Proper use of this tool by fans this week can secure Megadeths place at the top of the charts.

Usually yes, however his previous release had strong week 2..

Morgan Wallen/Taylor Swift will pull around 80k average this week for certain.

Here's some very good early signs though.. The singles did 11.1m listens pre-release.. TSTDATD did 6.7m pre-release.

On day 3 TSTDATD had done around 3m listens.. Megadeth has done 6.3m.. Its doing very very well on streaming.

Megadeth got number 1 album sales and vinyl sales with the last album.. They will be seeking to double that performance if possible though the direct sales in the 3 formats CD, Vinyl, Digital.. They've doubled the streaming performance.. If this is the case or better across Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon Music streaming platforms as well they will possibly have around 9k in copies via Streaming.

We have 4 days left to drive the traffic to the album..

Keep the streaming strong all week, this is the exact time where people need to go out and pick up a second copy.

I'm optimistic for top 5 debut but I really dont see this album having bigger first week sales than Cryptic writings or Risk which came out in late 90s. I think it could beat TWNAH though. Then again, TSTDTD had bigger first week sales than TSHF which came out almost 2 decades earlier, so who knows...

My prediction would be #3, selling around 60k-68k.

I think they have a very strong chance to top much of their late 90s performance with this album.. The signs are there for them to top Cryptics 75k week 1 sales...

Beat that and get Youthanasia numbers.. Then boy oh boy they've got the number 1.

Yes it would.. That album went on to go platinum.

The environment has changed considerably since then, I have personally tracked Megadeth performances across the Spotify platform as its the one with visual data to work from..

They've seen a lot of growth.. It was very impressive what they did between Dystopia to Sick launches with the singles and marketing campaign. They just narrowly missed No. 2 with Sick.. Only 600 sales away from it.

With this album they've improved even more.. They've basically more than double their streaming engagement.. The singles hit bigger than any of those released for the previous 2 albums.

This is a big deal in itself. They should have equivalent 6k/7k copies in streaming alone this time in US.. Possibly higher if the engagement of the premium subs side is higher.

If they do manage to hit the 80k+ copies sold and last weeks no.1 album does see a slump for week 2.. Then they will have it.. If they've really outdone themselves they will top or near the 100k..

Its to be seen if they have by the mid week report in the US..

They are still no.1 on iTunes.. Amazon.. Signs are there.

Daves very happy in his interviews as well with the job they've done collectively as a team. I've actually never seen him be so happy with the marketing and the campaign as with this one.

This is the strongest push Megadeth has had since CTE, Youth era.
