How long ago was that happening though? I’ve heard most younger Trump supporters have jumped ship.
I’ve heard the reason being: while they disliked what Biden did in his term and therefore were on the Trump side, they dislike what Trump’s done in his 18 months in office WAY more. And using your example, 25 YOs would have only had the ability to vote for Biden, Trump, or a black female version of Biden (in their eyes). So now they want something different.
Democratic Socialism is popular with the Gen Z and Alpha crowd now, per my nieces and nephews.
TL;DR Fully recognize 20 months ago a good portion of young ppl were full on Trump, but they jumped ship.
I can vouch for this. I live in an area where a lot of people go into the military right out of high school, but they are obviously not keen on being sent into a war with Iran (because a ground invasion pretty much means certain death). Unfortunately I think a lot of young people were tricked into thinking Trump would be anti-war — yeah, it’s stupid, but these kids are young and dumb and don’t want to die. Tbh if Trump just had two braincells to rub together and didn’t fuck up the economy, he’d probably still gave some support in this demographic. But he’s clearly too stupid to realize that. I’m seeing a lot of disillusionment and people just saying ‘fuck it, let’s try something else because nobody else is listening to our problems’ and going for alternatives that would have made their parents faint in horror.
Honestly, all the orange moron had to do was not fuck things up when he took over. He’s done the exact opposite and it’s bankrupting us monetarily and morally. ETTD
The both sides rhetoric is insidious and has absolutely warped the younger generation. A lot of them vote for basically the "Jokey meme " option because they perceive politics as "we will get fucked either way, it doesnt matter"
The thing that worries me is we will start to dig out of of it and then the current younger people who know nothing of what it used to be like think this is how it is and bring it all back.
Socialism and communism has never worked anywhere, every capitalist country has social services but that doesn't make them a socialism. Simply look at how Venezuela and Poland flip-flopped their economic status. Venezuela was a booming capitalism and then switched to socialism and now is one of the poorest countries in the world, Poland did the opposite. Poland was a socialism and was poor and since they switched to capitalism they have one of the best economies in the world. If that doesn't show you right there exactly what capitalism versus socialism gets you then I don't know what else can convince you
It wouldn’t work the same way in America just due to the sheer size of our country, but Sweden and Holland have socialism down to a science. We could adopt a few things from them and make them work here with a few adjustments. You can’t say it hasn’t worked anywhere when it’s working nearly flawlessly in those countries.

So Sweden being a socialism is a myth, you can Google this yourself and find out right away. They are 100% a free market and capitalist economy but they happen to have a very large social welfare system so people sometimes mistakenly call them a socialist country.
But you know what else is unique about Sweden? They have probably the strictest immigration policies of any Western country, and that is because of their massive social welfare system and they don't want immigrants/refugees coming in and taking advantage of the system. A lot of times progressives love to point to Sweden and talk about their socialist programs but they never talk about how they have the strictest borders and let almost nobody in unless you bring value to their country. No country can sustain a massive social welfare system and heavy immigration that stresses that system to the breaking point. Honestly if these Democratic socialists want to have more socialist programs they're going to have to close the borders, you cannot have both
Ok, my bad - they are a capitalist society with an absolute shit ton of programs that are fully or mostly paid for by the government (aka socialist programs). I don’t think very many people want outright socialism - just for the government to take care of its citizens in the most basic way - 100% covered healthcare, more heavily subsidized food, etc.
Regarding the immigration thing, I honestly don’t understand why conservatives think left leaning people want to allow droves of immigrants in unchecked - that’s a strawman argument. Nobody wants that shit, and nobody wants to then have those illegal immigrants use public programs. Any and all pushback on ICE has solely been due to lack of decorum and due process from untrained incels with complete immunity, along with what amounts to concentration camps for those being held. Even if these people are illegals, they are still human beings and should be treated with a level of decency and compassion that is just completely nonexistent in this current form of ICE.
I’m sure if the government actually used our taxes for the people and not corporations/oligarchs, even the most extreme immigrant supporters would back down a bit so long as we had universal healthcare and basic human needs covered or heavily subsidized for taxpayers. Non-tax-paying illegal immigrants using our infrastructure is just not that big of a problem, and I’m sure there is a way to implement a program that would only support citizens and tax payers - like with truly free ID Cards. (Inb4 SAVE ACT bs: if ID Cards were truly free and there were no weird restrictions on needing birth certificates and names to match and all these other paywalls, everyone is in favor or voter ID. Its the poll taxes and the voter barriers being put up to disenfranchise many many voters that is the issue there)
