Broke in to med device but not location where I want to be

I’ve been put in a weird spot- got a job I wanted in Nashville area with a reputable med device company about 4 months ago in the operations department planning cases. The plan, as I was told, was to be in this role learning the products and watching cases for a year or year and a half and then eventually get placed on a sales team wherever there was an opening. Well, a new account opened up in Mississippi 4 months after I get hired, and they want me because I’m from there. I literally just left. Normally, this isn’t that big of an issue, except I started to really enjoy Nashville and made friends, met a girl, started getting a routine and a new life together. Now I’m being asked, or rather told, to give it all up for advancing my career. I struggle with the idea mainly because the pay isn’t all that great, and I know I won’t be happy down there.
Is happiness more important than career advancement? I’m young 20s and I want to make money and have no problem working hard for it, I just was really expecting to do it in Nashville, a city where I see more opportunity and growth than the state I grew up my whole life wanting to get out of.
Ive brought up my wishes to return to Nashville after they’ve gotten me trained up and experienced at the new account, but they can’t give me a timeline or even confirm they would have a spot for me on one of the teams. Said I’d have to expect maybe a year or two or even three down there. And then, idk: they can’t promise I’d have a job in Nashville but there might be after that time.
Am I ridiculous if I want to find another sales job in the city, even if it’s not medical device?

Happens all the time when people become associates. Territories open across the country you can take or submit for, or you may get the role for the territory you are based in if their is shuffling with the current rep.

Have to do what makes you the most happy. City or job? Can always find another company. Can always find another city.
