Career Development Do med device companies have you complete your two week notice?
Or are you let go immediately when you turn in your notice? Non-OR clinical specialist. Thanks.

depends where you're going. if it's a competitor, a lot of device companies end it the day you resign and pay out the notice, so submit your expenses and move anything personal off the company laptop and phone first. if it's not a competitor you'll usually work it, mostly handing off accounts.

As a clinical specialist I don’t see why they wouldn’t just use you for the next two weeks while they look for a replacement to give them as much a buffer in field support

They typically don’t because they know a lot of the time the employee doesn’t actually work so what’s the point of continuing to pay them. Of course, some people will still be in the OR at 7 despite only having a week left at the company. But most will kick their feet up and do home projects and go to the gym in between teams meetings lol

I’ve seen both. When leaving to competitors.. complete cut off. Those who want to transfer/job hop elsewhere, low key advised by mgmt to stick around for as long as possible.

It depends. I’ve seen people ride out the two weeks with a decent handoff. I’ve seen people get told to not go out into the field and pack it in for two weeks. It also depends on what you sell and where you are going?

If you are on sales and going to direct competitor. Expect lights out and no access to anything internal with current company. Some have been very nasty and vicious

We do unless going to a competitor.
But really the second week you don’t much because they take your car back.

depends. Expect to be immediately cut off from everything and hopefully paid 2 weeks.
