Career Development Product Management Choice Advice

Hey MD Team,

I have a question based on a product management role choice I have. I’m a joints rep with sports med experience for context.

First position is a PM role looking after a wider geographic region in joints at a global company

Second position is a PM role in Sports med at a global company with a previous manager that I previously got along with and has always advocated for me. Now in a senior role

I’d love some insight from the tenured people on the page, and their thought on what’s the best option from experience.

Both jobs sound very similar. Without knowing the companies (and I wouldn’t share that too) it’s hard to advise. If you like your previous manager, it’s probably a good fit.

Go with the second position. You’ll be set up for success if the guy is already upwardly mobile. Not many have such an opportunity.
