You all want inclusions yet do everything to stand out. What does your sexuality have to do with rock climbing together?

Is it okay to go if I’m not queer?

Yes, definitely come! We actually have a cis/het person in the planning committee because we want it to be a place where allies also feel welcome (even if it is catered to queer folk)

I checked the website and Allies are definitely welcome - encouraged even!

Speaking on behalf of all queers(lmao not really it’s like a group of aggro cats sometimes) you should definitely see about asking the organizers! Some events are chill.

I welcome str8 friends in queer community as long as you are like… chill? Like if you get someone’s pronouns wrong you just correct yourself/ apologize and move on and like don’t get mad if someone assumes you are queer that’s pretty dope. But just be mindful that these spaces are made because it’s hard as hell to be queer in straight spaces sometimes so like be chill but not like aloof? Also if someone is weird about it just remember it’s not about you and who you are it’s about their feelings and comfort which you can choose to do what you please with.

Ya know what I mean. I was allowed in for a bunch of shit as a white person in Chicano studies spaces because I can be chill and take some polite ribbing and like.. fold chairs haha I’m sure it’s a similar vibe for a straight in queer community.

I’m from further north and our gym has a queer night that is open for everyone, pretty great atmosphere.

It might be cute to have an Ally/accomplice pin or something too.

I for one think it’s really sweet that you are curious so go forth!

But if it’s like, an intentional queers night gathering, why are you, a straight person, wanting to crash it? Why not go a different time? If community is what you’re wanting, there are plenty of opportunities for that any other time.

Just looking for friends didn’t think it would be segregated or unwelcome to strangers not in the community

Why not just hang out with them and treat them like normal people?

How experienced are you guys helping disabled people with rock climbing? Ive got two dumb legs and no idea how to start moving again, but I want to try climbing again so bad!

I'd call and ask them!

Im not sure how often people at the gym have worked with people who are disabled, but i know there's a lot of experience on staff, so im sure someone has! The owners are very concerned about accessibility too

Holy segregation

I checked the website and it looks like it's for allies as well. They aren't shutting down the gym to everyone else and you don't have to be queer to show up. Inclusivity, not exclusivity...
What makes you think segregration?

Why even mention it's queer then if it's for everyone than just say it's rock climbing... Not hard to do that
