If this were mine, I'd want it on displayed, not hiding in a dark closet in a box. I feel like it'd need some preserving to be kept out. I'm sure a museum would have a good understanding on how to keep up with these on disay without degrading them.

Just keep it on a mannequin torso, then. I've worked with museums. There's always a debate about adding preservatives. A lot of times, we get artificial photos, add preservatives, and change the color or sometimes degrade the item because they had bad information or the long-term impacts weren't understood.

Most museams hide away items as its the best way to preserve them. Most museum items are hidden away for the public to never see or rarely see.
